Im new to Spyderco knives but decided to go with a serrated native I found on E-bay. Im really happy with it! It is an unusual blade IMO. It is very light to carry and razor sharp on arrival in the mail. Are there other big time native fans on here? I wish spyderco would make a OD green and balck native. Thank would be cool!
Cheers!

I have been wanting a OD Native with black DLC blade for a long time.

PipeyCain,
another native fan here. You should try a Blue G10 one if you get a chance :) I carry mine on weekends when my paramilitary doesn't jump in there.
Chris

Chris: Ive seen the Blue G-10 I like the way it looks.
u812: It looks like Spyderco would make a "tactical" Native since they already make a limited "desert" version.
Does any one know why the native is designed the way it is and what type of work it was meant for. I find that it is useful in emergency services work and is my on duty knife for now.

I wish I could find one in a color other than black. For me, the blade serves as a great utility tool and would clean a catfish in a second. I looks like it would work as an emergency self defense blade as well. The width, the grind and the handle all appealed to me from the git go.

Be careful with those Spyderco knives. A couple weeks ago I bought my first one, as of today I own four.

Yep I know what you mean UnixDork. I now also own a delica. I still favor the Native though. How about those Para/ Military models?

Okay, I am a rewl breaker...get over it! Anyhow, I just have to chime in on these Native threads....YES, Yes, and yes again! I will take any Spyderco produced Native variant! However, I would like to see either a different type of lock used or even blade steel, as well as, the handle variants. I thought it would be time for a fully serrated Native to come into being for a change instead of the combo edges out there. How about a Dark Green G10 with H1 blade steel fully serrated and a rolling ball bearing lock like a dodo...just in time for my stocking at Christmas, Sal! *hinthint* If you don't do it someone will (perhaps its time I start to mod a little bit with all these natives I got laying around)...Maybe I can talk my wife into buying me a Dremel <--sp for Christmas, and I can order some G10 and a few other things and work something up. O well, a Native junkie can dream after all! On a more serious matter let us have a fully serrated variant for a change with a new G10 color...it would make a good idea for a sprint run...Don't yah think? :p

A Native III was my first Spydie, and I adored it from day one. It's in my right pocket as I type this. The ergonomics are great, the steel is great (I've had it for about 3 months now, used it daily and it's STILL shaving sharp)....

Now, a tan or OD colored handle with a black blade? *drool...*

Thats it! If a "tactical" native version could be made, I think a lot of people like me will be happy. What can we do to make it happen?
Kudzu74: Why do you prefer the fully serrated blade over the combo edge?

I'm down to a blue plainedge Native III, my favorite of all the Natives I've owned. But I will say the serrated cuts like a buzz saw. I used to slash through small branches with it and still come up sharp at the end of the day.

I'm tired of combos....I like plain edge and serrated edge just not on the same knife! All the Natives to date have either been PE or CE...none that I have are a fully serrated edge. I just acquired an older Blackhawk the other day that has an aluminum handle and is fully serrated...if you want a tactical look well thats your answer. I don't see why they can't be offered in PE, SE, and CE like the delicas...they seem to do just as well on the market as the Endura and Delica or they would not still be around on the production line would be my observation. Anyhow, I just bought about 4 books related to knifemaking off Amazon.com for a good deal. Two of them were authored by or with Wayne Goodard...I hope that I can learn something from them because I've been interested the latter half of this year in attempting to either mod some folding knives or even find a way to make them. I've got a guy that I'm gonna be trying to get in touch with who lives near me and is a custom knifemaker. I hope it pans out...it seems I'm making the next step as a knife enthuasist <--sp. :p

I'm not much into black blades, but OD FRN would really be slick. I know I would buy a bunch of different models if they were OD. An OD assist w/carbide tip would rock.
