New Natives are S30V instead of S35VN, bummer

The edge was greater than 90 degrees?(That’s the definition of obtuse) Sorry, I know what you meant, just couldn’t help being a nerd.
Well, it came dull enough that I could run my thumb lengthwise along the edge with enough pressure to press into my thumb pad without coming close to breaking the skin. Not that I do that with any of my other knives, but that one came SO dull that I could do that with confidence.

Never had that problem with spyderco and at half the price! That’s really in professional for such a highly regarded knife company, to say the new least.

Yeah, that was the only issue I've ever had with a CRK knife. I went on to use that knife quite a lot, off and on over the years. I bought my second CRK back in 2011, and then three more CRKs after that. I'm happy to say that all came out of the box with very nicely-ground edges.

IME, Spyderco's S30V and S35VN are also easy to resharpen on my Sharpmaker.
