Hello everyone,
My name is Garrett Elting im 22 years old and I have been a long time lurker, first time poster. I am new to knife making and would like to get some help starting my own shop. I live in Lincoln, Nebraska. I have just finished building my own forge out of a 30 gallon propane tank and a burner purchased from online. I have a #200+ anvil that was passed down to me from my grandfather. It is in amazing shape how old it is. What Im really asking for is help getting started forging blade. I know there is nothing wrong with just getting out there and seeing what happens but to be taught or even guided in the right direction first can make all the difference in the amount of time it takes to learn a trade. Is there any knife makers in Nebraska that would be willing to work with me one on one for a couple hours a month to help push me in the right direction. Any help or responeses would be much apprecited.

Semper Fi,
Garrett Elting

I'm about 3 hrs north in SD and will be hosting a "gathering" on Saturday March 1st, your more that welcome to join in.

I wish I could. I work 2nd shift saturdays and sundays which makes going anywhere at distance a real problem. Thank you for the offer tho.

I have talked with Mr. Moore at the Lincoln gun a few weeks back. Great guy and amazing work. I will try to get out to the show if possible.

I spoke with him at the same show & you are right.

I'm from Fremont, NE. I'm always interested in knives particularly for bushcraft. If your ever in Fremont, I would love to interview you for my youtube channel. PCL Outdoors & Bushcraft. My channel is new so I'm still working to my editing to improve video content. I'm also looking for fellow bushcraft folks in my area to meet and exchange skill sets. 402-659-1039
