It appears my suspicion was correct, the weight listed for the Hidaka FX on the SOG website, and every other website selling the knife has the weight wrong. It's not 25.6 oz (1.6 pounds).
Here's a screenshot from sogknives.com showing the listed weight of the Hidaka FX to prove I wasn't hallucinating-
But I found a youtube review where a guy weighed one. Knife and sheath together weigh 11.22 ounces, the knife alone weighs 7.72 ounces. That is definitely what I would consider "lightweight". And now I am definitely interested .
I'd have to get the all-black one, not a fan of green handles. Too bad they don't offer the black handles with the satin blade (not a big fan of black blades either). EDIT: It just occurred to me that I could dye the green handles black, or coat them with black Plasti-dip.
I was taking an interest in the Hidaka fixed-blade, until I saw the listed weight- 25.6 oz?!? That's over a pound and a half. In contrast, the Pillar that Doc posted is listed at 7.3 oz. at about the same size. I have to wonder if the Hidaka weight is a mistake. I prefer lightweight fixed-blades, and 1.6 pounds ain't "lightweight".
I agree they are cool, as I definitely like several of the Kiku models. I think heir black TINI blade finish is very impressive as it looks similar to old school bluing. There is something about all those curves. View attachment 3007881
