A guy I know basically gave this to me when I bought another knife from him, you know to sweeten the deal. Any of you folks have one of these?

Yep, Camillus blank. Is it heat treated?

How thick is that sucker? I would convex and drop point it. That would be awesome, and truly unique. Slap some extra grivory or micarta on it and call it a day after that.

Yeh I forgot the camillus ones are thicker. That's gonna be a wicked chopper. Awesome score. Looks like I need to start looking for a camillus 9

It's .210 thick. I think my knife making days are over. So I'm not really sure what role this will play. Possibly a 2000 post random drawing for beckerheads, no promises though. The guy has 2 more of them.

For the HT question.... grab a bastard file.

FFG that sucker, supreme kitchen knife, do whatever you want with it... just for the sake of all that is good do not have it hallow ground.

You might want to see what he would take for 'em Fal'er. Seems there are a couple of folks mighty interested in having a project Becker like that. I for one would love to see a saber to convex done on a fresh blank like that. Leave out the swedge and call it good and that would be one heck of a knife, and one heck of a chopper.

That is cool.

You should check for a knife maker to grind it and heat treat it. Drop point and convex like Derek suggested

I'd sure like to get my hands on one of those Faler. I've got some new grinding belts I need to wear out and that's got full height convex all over it. Would be a chopping machine. PM me if one would be available.

I personally would love something like this.

Words can not express how cool this is to me.

Great find!

Definitely find out if he still has the two more because I would love to get a few of the old Cam blanks, at least one to get ground to be just like the original, and at least one to make into something special and mine ..lol

Everyone starts talking about heat treating it before FAL'ER has even checked if it is or isn't HT'd. Tz tz tz :D

Just grab a regular file and try to file it.

I was under the impression that they heat treat after grinding the bevels. Otherwise care would have to be taken not to overheat. It seems counter-intuitive to heat treat before grinding.....but who knows...
