Hey everyone! I recently bought a vintage estwing hatchet 24a no.1 that was in great shape. Its never been used or even sharpened. :D My question is..what now?! I was thinking of convexing the edge, do you think thats a good idea? I ask because I only have one and dont want to screw it up and have to use the crappy walmart hatchet...:o Anything else I can do to make it better? thanks a lot.

TJ, where in CT are you? if you want you can send the hatchet to me and i can sharpen it up and convex it for you. those estwings take a nice edge...no cost except for shipping. if you are close you can drop it off.

if you want to do it yourself, i would recommend thinning the edge a little bit, convexing it and maybe tying a lanyard on.
