New old knife

Not sure how you came to that conclusion from the information given and the sheath shown in the link you gave in #30 is not the same as your sheath. Your sheath predates that one and is constructed entirely differently. Your sheath was replaced by the style shown in the link about 1980/81. Yes, the knife is the same as yours but the sheath provides additional clues as to approximate age. Yours would be older. This all assumes the sheaths are original.

Your sheath is called a "swivel" sheath because the belt loop swivels on the rivit. The construction is folded leather on the R with a sewn seam on the L. This was the typical style used thru most of the 70's for the 119, 120, and 124.

The sheath shown in the link is of flat (not folded) construction and sewn around the entire perimeter. This style starts about 1980 or 81.

Ok, Buck started using that spacer format in 1981. I have that model with those spacers and if the blade has a semi-hollow grind (with a thicker blade at the edge) it will have 440C steel. If the grind is a fuller hollow grind it will be 425M steel. A transition was made at that time.
DM

Wait, actually looking at it in hand it does seam like a bit fuller of a grind. The top of the edge for lack of a better term. Does seam closer to the spine.

Ps. Nope just the light. I believe it’s the 440c

Ok, the part about the grinds (looking at them)can be a bit confusing. So, l'll give you a cross-section photo of what the 2 grinds should look like. If your's is thick at the edge it should look like B. If your's is more of a 1982 hollow grind it should look like C. B= 440C steel. DM

Ok. Running my fingers down the edge I don’t feel a shelf before I reach the edge but I can tell that it’s pretty thick.

Ps.Pretty sure it’s B though

When you pinch the spine/ top of the blade and run your fingers down toward the edge the 'hump' shown in B diagram is very evident.
If you feel this hump,-- you'll know. Then when setting an edge bevel much of this metal will need to be thinned down. Good luck, DM

Yes there is a hump as I run my fingers down to the edge. As I stated before I am confident that it’s B 440C

P.s luckily someone did most of that before I got to it but I can still feel a slight hump before the actual edge.
