I just recently acquired this used JS version of one of Jason's small fighters. This one is ~ 10.5" overall w/a 5" L6 blade and BEAUTIFUL Tiger Maple handle. Hard to capture the beauty in this wood, but it's amazing to look at and handle. It almost has a holographic deep look to it. :) I need to get some good leather for it so I'll be contacting Mr. Long for some of his handy work.

Anyone care to share some 'old' work of the Masters we all love please add to this post. We all love pics and details of great knives!!

Thanks Joe. It's currently in TX w/ Paul getting ready for some leather. :)

If you (or any others) have any 'early' work of JS's or MS's I'd love to see some pics. I really enjoy seeing pics that somewhat document a blade smiths progression & styling.

One of a kind, Jerry Fisk 'Boot Knife' created 1995:
Perfectly Fluted Ivory handle, chisel grind clip, black lacquered Damascus blade finish.
Silver sheath w/boot clip on back. 19 years old and just as when Jerry made it.

This one goes WAY back for Don. He had received some 1086M steel from Howard Clark and knew it would produce a good hamon. Yep, I think it worked. :) Mortised handle, early Hanson guard.

Good idea...

Samuel Lurquin, 2009....I always like so much this trappue and compact shape....Visually interesting, can be less for the use

Here's one from Adam DesRosiers

and another one by DHIII in 1086M

I think both of these are from 2005 - pretty distinctive style

Great thread Eric! That's a nice little Knight.
Michael, I wondered if you still had that beast.

Eric, the tiger maple on the knight is incredible!:thumbup: having the 5" blade it sounds like a very handy size.

a knife meeting your request....

This is my first forged knife, its a Russ Andrews Hawthorne PC bowie, The blade is a little over 6" and has a blonde ironwood handle.

an excellent JS knife from a Current MS!

regards Jeff

Regarding the Desrosiers if I remember correctly (Adam jump in and put me right!) the blade was forged from cable but Adam came to test it, it wasn't upto his standards so he reforged the blade with an O1 core. You can't really make out the transition from the photo, there is only about an 1/8" of the O1 showing and that is etched so it tends to blend in with the cable.
The handle is Ironwood and the pin Bronze/Brass.

I have quite a few of Adams blades and love everyone of them.... great guy too.

Thanks for the follow-up. I couldn't agree more... A little off topic, but I've been chatting back/forth w/Adam for a while about putting together a bladesmithing class when he and Haley get their new shop in order and have a place for 'students' to come and learn. I've already worked out the approval w/my wife and she wants me to go. :) Soon as the DesRosiers' have time and desire to put it on... :)

Hopefully when the Desrosiers workshop is fully operational there is a billet of L6/01 Damascus with my name on it waiting to get finished up into something big and very un-PC.
