New One: Neck Knife

Rick,

Will your design be able to "break away" if snagged? I would worry if it got caught on something. Just asking. I enjoy seeing your work. Great workmanship!

TJ

If this is a worry - they make a set of 'beads' that can be attached to the paracord that will allow a break away. Referees whistles have them - they are very firm - but allow for breakaway.

A lot of folks like using pieces of transparent hose as well (like the kind brewers often use--it's small diameter, about the size of surgical tubing) and it grips paracord like crazy. You'd be hard pressed to pull it apart normally, but if it caught on something it would break free just fine. :)

I tried using shrink tubing but it would let go too easily. Plus the customer would have to figure out a way to put it back together.

TF..... do those beads snap back together?

Link?

KgD........ The customer specified paracord to be used..... I would rather use leather, too.

Are these the ones you are talking about?

Now THIS is a great idea!...... ball chain inside a paracord sheath!!!!

I may have to upgrade this one.......

I used to put my dog tag chain inside gutted 550. Kept the black sh*& off my neck, and was still breakaway. It works great!

In all my years of wearing neckers using paracord I have never even come close to having them snag anything yet alone strangle myself.......has anyone ever heard of such a thing really happening cos I have to smile ever time I read it !!!!

Yes..... my skills mentor was a SAR guy for 25+years..... he has seen a few cases where a lanyard has injured or killed people.... same with shoulder straps.

.... But then again I've choked out sparing partners with their T-shirt collars. Safety minded folks go topless in the woods!..... ha!

I suppose a non-breaking lanyard could potentially SAVE your life, too.

O-man that is awesome...... I really like it, only thing I'd is a small portion of jimping on the spine for fire steel striking

I am so use to using NWA Nick Allens blades and there are those Thumb serration on spine,I use exclusive for my Firesteel striker..

You don't need those for striking..... I don't even think the were intended for that. A squared off spine works just fine.

LOL ,I agree, I mean I knew that but ,I like it. personal preference I guess LOL , I do love that little necker....

That is what I am talking about - spend a little more money and get a good company - they are nice Rick.

I like the dog tag chain too. I can send you some of my old Dog tag chain - you may have to wipe some of the blood and guts off it.

I know you people in Canada don't have a military to get issued a dog chain.

Might as well just BE French for God's sake.
