New One: The Marchete

Parang, Bolo, Machete.... whatever, it's big.


As usual I jumped the gun before making a sheath... lol.

The Marchete
5160
18" cutting edge
9" handle
28" overall
5/32" thick at ricasso tapering to 1/8" at tip and butt of tang.
Handle is hickory with hemp wrap, soaked in epoxy.

Here is the Marchete at different stages of completion...

Concept drawings... I went with the Tai Goo inspired bushblade shape...

Rough forged..

Handle wood and size reference..

After clean up, heat treat and rough handle fitting...

Just about done... It still needs a final sharpening and perhaps a design on the butt of the handle..

Sheath still to come.....
