New or old Mnandi?

Again, it's not a deal breaker as CRK can provide the missing screw for a new style where you want to remove the clip.

You can remove the new clip but you will need to obtain a screw. I am sure CRK would send you a screw if you want to carry without a clip. I would mainly focus on finding an inlay that you like.

Or focus on the type of damascus ;)

I prefer the new style pivot pin (shows more scale, is flush, and looks more "professional"), new style clip (looks cleaner, doesn't snag on clothes, and holds more secure), and I like the S30V with old nail nick (glass bead finish on the face of the nick matches the edges of the frame) vs the S35V with new nail nick. The newer nail nick IS more difficult to open with one hand. All of that being said.........I'll take ANY Mnandi someone isn't pleased with ;)

What makes you think that one might be fake? If it is, it fooled me.

The seller of that Mnandi accidentally posted pictures of a newer Cocobolo Mnandi instead of the Ironwood that matched the birthcard. I pointed out to him that the knife didn't match the card and he ended the listing. He then posted the correct 2007 Ironwood which I bid on and won. It does indeed have the old clip, nick, and pivot. I greatly prefer the old nail nick, for both looks and ease of opening. I also prefer the old clip. I could go either way on the pivot. I'll probably only buy Mnandi's with the old style nick though.

I got a bog oak coming tomorrow. Heart is pumping.

The dissambled pics is an old style mnandi. Did they change washer style on the newer models?

I have both, but like the old model best. I just can't keep my hands off that one. Sometimes i do use the new clip on the old model. The area when the screw goes though on the old model clip is a bit sharp.

Old style in a heartbeat. Unfortunately you don't find them for a reasonable price any longer and we are stuck with the new style.

My NEW bog oak just arrived. First impression:

Gosh this thing is light.

Opening one hand is not easy/likely. Don't know if I care.

Definitely not going to cut my way out of a collapsed mine shaft with this thing.

It is fun as heck to fondle. May lower my blood pressure at work

No reason to not take it to work in business casual or above. Don't forget you are flying today.

Holding 3000+ year old wood is cool

I hope it stands up to some cutting of stuff that it probably shouldn't be used for.

I hesitated getting mnandi because of all the complaints about the new nick/old nick. I do wish it was easier to one hand but I've gotten my finger pinch method down. It's much easier on Damascus though. The texture of the steel helps with grip.

I'm treating it like a modern traditional and don't intend on one handing it. Got plenty of Spydercos for that though!
