I've had my new para mile for about a week now and sense the day I got it i noticed it has difrent jibing, any thoughts? I havent seen a single picture of one like this and am thinking its a newer model or something.

Can someone give me a clue? Sal?

Congratulations on receiving the next step in Paramilitary evolution! It seems to be one of the unannounced incremental changes that Sal is noted for slipping in on us ;)

Any idea on how this new jimping compares to the old jimping as far as grippyness (if that's a word)?

The old style doesn't look like it would be very grippy until you use it. It is still the "grippyest" jimping that I own.

Oh, that jimping looks great, love it.
It is like a CalyIII, great stuff, I like this type the best.

How's the blade play? My biggest beef with my para, which is probably two years old now, is that it's always had a bit of play (front to back), and I can't seem to adjust it out. Don't get me wrong, as I flip it out and close it, and flip it out and close it...while typing this question, I'm reminded about why it's such a great knife, and I can almost forgive a little blade play, but...

Well just from what I have seen between an old style para and a delica 4 which has the new type jimping, I like the new style jimping for grip much better.

Myself and others have had some luck with the blade play issue by bending the locking bar for more tension. You may want to just consider sending it in for warranty first though.

Well I've had it for two weeks now and have experienced absolutly no vertical blad play, but there is a little bit if you grab the tip and wiggle it horizontal, nothing that upsets me. My only beef with this thing is that the pivot refuses to stay tight, I have put locktight on it twice and its almost as loose as it can get again! I usually keep my knives rather loose so I can just drop the blade out of the handle and have it locked but for some reason I like the feel of this one tight, it makes it feel super solid.

Either way its with out a doubt my favorite knife I have ever owned the comp lock is way better then some people make it seem.

My new version Para has absolutely no blade play either open or closed and locks up tight with a precise little 'snick'. The jimping is very grippy and adds to the feeling of the knife as a solid performer.

When did they start making the newer ones? Would most places have them in stock now?
