Ordered this one today. Oakley has a program for goverment/public service workers that gives a HUGE discount. You have to take picture of your ID/liscense and fill out the aplication, but its soooo worth it, so if your military, fire, EMS, or Law enforcement, check into it. I cannot believe their prices. You have to agree in contract not to resale for a profit, or buy for other parties.

This pack is sweet, carries 2 water bottles, and has sternum strap, but no waistbelt. It will be my woods/ dayhike bag for short trips/light overnighters...
I got the tan one.

Lets just say this one was under 50.00 shipped:D

They also have boots, gloves, and of course shades. Im gonna score me a new pair of shades soon too. I already have oakleys, but I could use another pair to rotate too.

sigh...if only I had signed up...

Would that program apply to someone like me who is a volunteer with Search and Rescue? I have an ID issued by the County and one from the State. Both say volunteer on them. Or do you actually have to be employeed by a government agency?

If you don't mind post up a review when you get it. Looks decent but it's hard to tell quality or gimmick from a picture.

Just curious,

If it's anything like my old Oakley backpack, the quality is top-notch, just like their shades.

I had an oakley pack a long time ago, and quality was top notch. Very well made, just as good as osprey, and maxpedition, Might not be as "hard use" as Maxpidition, but the pack I had was very tuff!

James 61- yes you apply for it too. Volunteers are eligable. Just fill out the aplication and upload a pic and wait for the email approving you.

You know, I like a company that thinks like that. If the pack is anything like the other Oakley products, it should suit you quite well.

great looking pack J... i hear nothing but good things about oakley's gear... i know a few guys that ride with some of those packs... bomber gear for sure..

you gotta love employee programs like that... i worked for PATAGONIA for a few years, and i truly miss getting those pro-deals...:(

Nice pack J, Definately let us know how it rides when its all loaded.

Great score Bro..I really like that pack...

I have this pack and use it all the time. I also have a pair of M-frames with like 4 different lenses. Oakley is great stuff.

Would love to see some more up close pictures to see how it loads.

I will load it up when it gets here, and snap some pics, and take it out for a few miles, and post a review.

I really like that a company is willing to do stuff like this.

 RAT Cutlery does as well for military/police ETC. I think it is an excellent jesture to help those who serve US ! Great Job !

The program by Oakley is a good one. I have bought several pairs of sunglasses from them and usually buy them about 3-4 pair at a time so I don't have to worry about it for a long time. The selection they offer is not their full line, it is the subdued models and things that would appeal to military users.

Looking forward to seeing the pics when you get the pack in.

I don't have any of the RAT gear but they make some great looking stuff. Got a chance to handle several models at BLADE. Nice stuff.

Mountainsmith has a pro user program that allows you to buy at a discount. You have to be a professional within the outdoor industry.

Oakleys program sounds like a good deal.
