New Packaging

Just received 1 brand new large and 1 small Sabenza in the mail. I cannot tell a lie, not a fan of the new packaging. Just seems to be missing what I would call old school charm of the outgoing box. Also, I use the boxes for storage when not using the knives and so I'm in and out of them often as I swap my EDC. Using the side opening method over the top opening method proves to be much more difficult and will likely wear the box much quicker. Love my CRK's, just not the new boxes. What's your take on it?

The box doesn't really matter to me, but I much prefer the all hand written birthday cards!

I also prefer the old, but in the end it's just a box. I like that they are including CRK grease by default now.

The new packaging reminds me of BenchMade knives boxes. I like the old boxes much better.

Thanks,

As I stated in the thread introducing the new boxes, I think they look plastic-y. It does look more refined, but it does not have the solidness of the older thick cardboard boxes. I am definitely not a fan of the new boxes even if they give me free grease.

I also liked the handwritten birthday cards. It makes it seem more personable. The computer printed ones seem more of a cost cutting measure.

Years ago people where complaining about the old packaging asking for new....I could care less as long as the knife is with the packaging. :D

I just opened my Large Riddled Sebenza my wife got me for Christmas. I had not heard about the new packaging. I have to say I was disappointed. I like the old boxes much better.

I have not been keeping up on CRK lately. When I recently starting reading up on the forum again I thought WOW I have never seen this many complaints. I guess when you make a product perfect to begin with most any change could be looked at as taking away from perfection.

I think you nailed it. :D

Isn't getting the grease and Loctite (if required) an upgrade? Also the knife doesn't rattle around in shipment. Seems like the new box is an attempt at a better offering to me. I know if you have your drawer all set up for the old boxes it messes up your system, but surely CRK is actually trying to give you more for your money. Those old boxes were just bulk cardboard sample boxes with some cheap stickers on them. The new boxes are actually custom fit to the product.

I say bravo on the upgrade, and thanks for the "free" grease and Loctite!

The fact that a main complaint is the packaging is a testament to the quality of the knives.

Not the main complaint here. I see the Sebenza going down hill to a point. I like the Regular and Classic 2000 much better than the 21. As for the 25 I am not interested at all at the price with it not having the pivot that made the Sebenza head and tails better than anything else out there.
Edit to say I have not handled a 25 yet so that opinion might change when I do handle one.
Not posting any of this to be mean but only to give one persons feedback in case anyone from CRK is looking for it.

That has been stated on here by a few members. Fact of the matter is though, they are making and selling more knives now than ever, and they cannot make them fast enough to fill current orders.

There are a lot of people out there that think the new stuff is just peachy.

Just got a mnandi from my wife for Christmas. Love the new box. I like how the knife has a secure spot with no movement. Happy holidays.
