New Packaging

Those with the even newer boxes could y'all snap a pic for us? I just received my new-to-me 21 recently and it was in the coffin style box which was new to me. It was weird looking at first but I liked that it fits inside of a small flat rate USPS box.

I like the old style box Much better. The new 1s are a sign of 'the times, they are a changin' '

Change is hard for some peple to adapt to, just sayin'.

I'm new to CRK so don't have all the past experiences as most of you. My first impression of the packaging on my 25 was, Wow! Nice custom fit box that's bright and really impressive to look at. But as my wife can tell you I like to keep the original box and all of the literature that came with an item in the box. In the case of these boxes it's very difficult (for me at least) to get everything back into the box. And once I get a second CRK I will be rotating them in and out of the boxes which will make it a little more frustrating. I guess I just need to take the cloth out of the box and all would be good.

Anyway what was in the box I'm totally happy with and if it is a downgrade from some of the originals, I can't wait to get my hands on one of them someday.

That has been stated on here by a few members. Fact of the matter is though, they are making and selling more knives now than ever, and they cannot make them fast enough to fill current orders.

There are a lot of people out there that think the new stuff is just peachy.

I am by no means calling them cheap just that to me having one of the older ones in hand beside a 21 the older ones have a better 'feel' to them.

I received a Small Insingo this morning in the new style box and I like it a lot better than the old ones.

A much nicer presentation and you get a tube of grease to boot!

The new box blows the old one out of the water. It looks clean, secure, and professional - much more fitting for a knife of the sebenza's caliber.

While I do agree the new boxes look nicer they are much less functional. I change the knife I carry in my pocket all the time and thus open and close these boxes frequently. The design of the new boxes lend themselves to wear much easier when opening and closing them frequently and so when compared to the older boxes they are inferior - YMMV of course. In addition, the handwritten card along with the thicker cardboard box gave the feel of a personal touch...the feel that Chris himself had his hands in every aspect of the manufacturing of his product. This is lost with the new boxes and cards. In my opinion the "feel" of a product (and in this case the box and card are part of the product) can never truly be ignored by a consumer and thus any changes to it should be watched closely. The intent of the post was to provide customer feedback on a change made by an organization to its product line and offer a vehicle for others to weigh in - no more...no less.

All that said, respect given to all responses in the thread...diversity of ideas, quality execution and market adaptation is what creates truly exceptional products.

Now...put all that back in the box...then take it out again and put it back again. Then again...and then again. Then, do the same thing with the old box and let me know your thoughts on function.

You can put your knives in a felt or cloth lined drawer or zippered case. You can get cheap zippered cases too.

I have the boxes but store my new pivot Umnumzaan and lg classic micarta Sebenza on my closet shelf. My Lg Insingo micarta is my EDC.

A valid point, but it makes no difference to me. I'm one of those people who keeps all of their knives in a single case.

The box is useful for resale value. But other than that all I need is the actual knife and I'm happy.
