I've been looking at some spyderco knives I'm interested in. The delica4,chapperal, the manix 2 lightweight. And just a little bit ago I saw that the para 3 is now going to be offered in a lightweight version.
That is something very interesting and looks like the price is gonna be right with the others I listed. So many options to choose from. I really want the manix 2,but of the others it is a hard choice.
What would be your choice?? I'm leaning toward the para 3 over the delica and chapperal.

I really like the steel choice - bd1n, and the price point at under $100

The FRN handle bothers me, I always felt they were so flimsy looking. Is there any chance there will be a g10 version?
Oh, and here is a pic since no one posted one:

I'd recommend giving the FRN another try, my Delica has held up to tons of abuse.

I would also giving the frn another go. I had a native 5 that was excellent . It held up to alot of use and some rough use.

I've had a delica with FRN for more than 12 years now, it's held up great. I just don't like how it looks ; )

So how is this steel CTS-BD1N compared to, say, s30v? Or is it more close to STC-BD1?

I carry a digi-cam Para 3 every day, so my choice is obvious. I've never liked any of the Manix series because of their size and shape and the lightweight version doesn't do naything for that. The Chaparral's a tad small for my hands. I used to carry a D4 in the warehouse but the Para 3 is more to my likin'.

I'd recommend trying the Para 3 LW. I really like Spyderco's FRN. It feels good, it's easy to manipulate, and it's tough as nails. I guarantee you there's nothing flimsy about FRN. I've dropped my D4 onto a concrete warehouse floor from 10 - 15 feet in the air and you couldn't even tell it. I've knocked a G10 folder onto my concrete deck at home from a table top 30 inches off the deck and the corner of the G10 chipped. Don't know anything about BD1N steel but I trust Spyderco to do a good job with whatever materials they choose.

I’ve not been tempted by a PM2 or a PM3 in some time, but the price point, weight, and steel all make this a solid contender for me. It seems like a great dedicated work / carry knife that doesn’t look too intimidating.

I’ve had all the ones you listed at some point.. (except the lightweight version of that para 3, obviously, so I’m just comparing the regular para).

If money isn’t a problem and ignoring all the various debates about steels, then para 3 > delica for the compression lock and the wire clip, and if you want something a bit more comfortable in the pocket than either, maybe consider the chaparral.

We don't generally take pre-orders on in-line products like that, we do have an email alert that will let you know when they come into stock however.

The more interested question for me is: is DLT planning a run of LW Para 3 with a different steel?

I can't wait for the LW Para 3, I'm a huge fan of the Para 3, Spydercos FRN and the wire clip, so it's an all around win for me.

Sweet knife. I always found the fiberglass reinforced nylon (FRN) scales to be tough as nails, and very grippy when wet.
(Emphasis mine)

This is my experience as well. FRN is like kevlar for a knife chassis. It doesn't get a lot of love from some, apparently, because of the way it looks & feels compared to micarta or G10 or Ti. But I've never damaged FRN in all my warehouse silliness, and I have chipped G10 and put deep scratches in Ti scales. FRN holds up well in wet hands, too. In the sporting goods warehouse where I worked, I had to deal with spills ranging from Gatorade to exercise machine lubricants to liquid fuels and the FRN never gave it a second thought. Easy to hold on to the knife and no damage from the various liquids.

The BD1 steel choice is the same as the lightweight Manix2. I preferred a better steel in that Manix2 version, and was able to pick up a sprint lw Manix2 with a cts xhp blade. I think I ll wait for better steel in the lw PM3.
