New Peanut at 9 days.

How your healing process goes smoothly and all is well. Nice write up on the Damascus peanut. I don't have anything in Damascus yet. This report may just push me to try one. Thanks......Paul

Is the Damascus forming any patina? If not,it probably is stainless Damascus.Hope your foot is healing well Carl.-Jim

Dab nabbit. Now ya got me hankering for an everyday bit of Damascus traditional.

I think you have it in that the micro serrations are doing the trick. On a couple, and I only have a few, of my sharpest D2 blades I notice that under magnification they are never a smooth polished edge, but have a certain toothiness. Sure cuts like crazy, that's for sure.

And get well.

Carl,I've never had a Case Peanut. Thanks to you Sir,my new Damascus Peanut should be coming to roost next week sometime. The best thing is that my Wife bought it for me,God bless her! So,it will be a special little Peanut.I thought I might as well get the Damascus for my first Nut,I loved the look of the stag too.I'm not into totin' big heavy knives in my pocket anymore,so I know I'll like it.Thanks again Carl.-Jim

You're very welcome Jim!

I've found that as I got older decade by decade, my edc pocket knife got smaller. Maybe I just had to make room for the RONCO pocket defibulator!:D

I'll always remember the words of my old friend and co-worker Andy. When I asked him why he just carried a Buck Cadet as his only knife, to include deer hunting, he told me with a country boy grin, that he'd given up carrying a larger knife when he got big enough to go bear hunting with a switch. Mind you now, Andy was 6' and 3 or so inches tall, and a big guy. He did the neatest job of field dressing an opening day buck with that little cadet that I'd ever seen.

Hope the peanut works out for you as well as it has for me. It's an eye opener as to how much knife you really don't need in day to day life. Now I look at all small knives with a different view.

The foot is healing well, got the stitches out yesterday, and put a little weight on it today. Still hurts some when I do that, but it's getting there. maybe another two weeks on these accursed crutches!

Carl.

edit to add- By the way, I have not seen any patina on the damascus yet, but being house bound, it hasn't seen any fish bellies yet! Maybe soon.

I'm glad your foot is feeling better Carl.I'm hoping to clean a few Chinook Salmon and Steelhead with my Peanut real soon.I live real close to the Columbia River,on the Oregon Coast, and it's about that time of year.-Jim

Wow, thats a really big fish for a little peanut to handle!

Are you sure it can handle it? Kind of like sending some guy named David with a sling shot out to handle the big dude, Goliath. Wait a minute, Davie did get it done, didn't he?;)

Carl.

Keep that foot on the mend Carl. Thanks for the updates on the peanut. Be sure to let us know how the fish are bitin' when you get out.
