I serously considering an new Spyderco Persian.

Any of you guys own one?

What do you think?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Are are asking about "C83 - Ed Schempp Persian Folder" or "C105 - Ed Schempp Persian 75mm"?
C83 is my favorite knife and EDC since August. I can say many wonderful things about this knife, but better to visit previous threads

If you are thinking about full size Persian it would be better to get it ASAP.

I own "a few" of each size, some customized. Love the C83 and carry one that has had its micarta scales replaced with desert ironwood quite frequently. Like the C105 too, but keep it for those times where political correctness requires a somewhat smaller blade, as I really prefer the larger one.

Hi Deacon
I was wondering if any of them developed side to side play ?

TIA Arnon

Persian 75 mm ~ C105

I just picked up a secondhand, but still good condition C105. I am impressed with the design, especially the bolstered look. The belly is large, which makes it cut a little differently than you might be used to, if you, like me, were more used to Spyderco standards like the Endura. The action is very tight from the factory, but I hear it loosens over time. Mine has gotten a little looser after I played with it a bunch. Fit and finish is very good.

The knife overall is on the smaller side, and with my medium-sized hands the grip doesn't quite fill the palm (but comes very close). The thumb ramp allows you to lock it in regardless. The front choil would allow choking up if I needed. Ergonomics are nice and feel safe; there is a substantial grove for your index finger which would prevent slippage onto the blade.

I actually carry it in my bag as a backup to my normal EDC, a full-size Manix. However if I am feeling like going "lighter", I'll take the Persian. It's a little gem, I'm glad I got it.

Do make note of the clip orientation though, as it does not have alternate holes. It is set for a tip-up, right-hand-pocket carry.

Hi Arnon, my bonestag one has had a bit since the day I got it back from being customized. Doesn't bother me, I've used that knife a good bit for over two years and the play has not gotten any worse. Rest of them are rock solid. Actually wish the ironwood one would loosen up a bit, it's a tad stiff.

i agree!! Bring back the full-size Persian!!
I love mine, but don`t carry it,simply because getting another would be difficult!
It`s a great, very attractive knife, and fits my hand-I have no experience with the 75mm simply because I really like the larger knives(that means I am a klutz that mostly drops smaller knives:D )

Certainly a finely crafted knife and a fine design by Ed Schemp but just didn't do it for me. Blade shape just didn't lend itself as well to my daily cutting needs as some others.

I traded my large away for a waved Delica.

I think I have six of the large ones...

I proudly wore the Persian when I got married. Very symbolic a strong design and manufacture that works well even when the rain falls. Hopefully the marriage will be as strong, even when the rain falls. :)

Thanks for the pix zen Very nice surroundings is that a national park???
hello from a dutchie
