(New PICS + Follow Up thoughts) Progression to the XM-18

Looks like the tip is chipped off too. Did that happen from hitting the plate or was it like that already? That's going to take a good bit of work to re-profile the edge to restore that tip if you're not very adept at sharpening. I guess the plate was ceramic? Even so, I gotta say those chips and broken tip surprise me some.

It was a ceramic plate. That is the only time I've hit the blade on anything that could have caused it. If it's going to be a load of work I may need to either leave it or have someone else take care of it for me.
