very nice, did you use the same method i did?
Almost - I wrapped emery cloth around a 5/16" dowel, so as not to work down the 'peaks' too much. The mineral oil is what worked best, though; it really evened out the tone of the G-10. (Edited to add: The former owner did the original work, I just cleaned up high points.)
I did the exact opposite to my Persistence
I
really like what you did with that.
totally didnt wear one. is that bad
cuz i was breathing that in.
Oops. That did it. You'll be dead & stankin' by mornin'. Can I have yer knives?
Actually, in all seriousness, you do need a mask or respirator, and maybe gloves, too. When I was working cabinetry years ago, we made jigs out of G-10 and Micarta. The MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) for both are pretty tame, but the dust of either one has nasty fiber particles in it. Rule of thumb in our finishing shack: IF YOU'RE SMELLING IT, YOU'RE BREATHING IT. NO AMOUNT OF PS [particulate solids] - NO MATTER HOW SMALL - IS SAFE.
It can also make you itch like a madman if you're prone to skin allergies.
Okay, I'm off my rocker . . . er, soapbox, now.
