New pics up

Nice looking site, Chiro75! Since you have a couple of Sean Perkins’ knives I thought I’d see if you had a preference between the bright steel and full-patina finishes he offers. I’m getting ready to order a couple of pieces from Sean (I was out of town and didn’t get my order in before the prices went up

) and I’m trying to decide which finish I’ll choose. I’ve been leaning towards the more “organic” patina finish but the bright steel looks very classy…decisions, decisions. They both look pretty cool…

I like both knives very, very much. The bright steel is nice because it really shows off the texture and steel itself. It did not take long for it to start patinating itself, though. It has dulled slightly and is definitely not the plain steel anymore. It has a bit of surface oxidation that, in about 25 years, will probably look like my Seraph! ;-) Anyway, the full patina is really nice, too. Strangely enough, it has a distinct smell to it. It may be the Cordovan leather sheath, though. Anyway, the dark patina lightens a bit with use, and scratches in the blade will show as bare steel, just like if you scratched a piece of color anodized aluminum. LIttle rust spots sprout up fairly readily on the bright steel, although I'm seeing some on the Seraph that weren't there yesterday, too. The A-2 needs to be cared for with a lot of love, but the knives are great! If I was paying the price for one of these knives, I would go with the full patina. It has so much character! Of the two knives themselves,
I prefer the Scaetha, with the 3" handle and Wharncliffe blade. Whatever your choice is, I guarantee you'll be happy. Amazing how fast that thing rusted from a little sweat soaking into my pocket...must go and destroy rust now! Thanks for the compliments and feel free to ask more questions!

Thanks for the info, Chiro75. Your inputs have helped reinforce my earlier preferences. I think I'll go for an Arcrescia (?) with the patina finish...the Kerver looks awfully nice, but I'm a little afraid of the relatively short handle

The short handle isn't too bad. Due to the 1/4" thick stock, it feels much more substantial than you would think possible. It is shaped in such a way that it is quite secure, or at least my Seraph's is. The grip is GREATLY improved simply by using the lanyard. The most ecure way is to wrap the excess as it comes shipped around your last two fingers and tighten everything together, but this places the sheath in an awkward position. I tied a hangman's noose type knot on my knives and I can use the lanrayd like this to grab between the last two finers, like a two inch handle extension. It's really quite nice that way. The Acrescia would offer a more secure grip, but it depends on your hands. My hands are small, and I can get all my fingers on the 3" handle. Well I can get three fingers on it with the pinky pushing everything together at the end. The 4" OAL is nice for pocket carry, though. Tough choice! I like both. The one thing I do not like about the longer handle is the placement of the lanyard
hole, which is almost right in the middle of the handle. It mkes the lanyard fall sort of weirdly, but it's not a major grip. YOu'll be happy with either style. I carry mine an equal amount of time. Let me know what you choose!
