New pistol

Thats what I did. I got a plane jane .45.

Thats a nice Kimber. IMO the customII is one of the best deals in 1911s with added features. I havent heard anything bad about em.

That Kimber is actually at the top of my current 1911 list, and has been there for a while now. There are a couple of nice Springfield 4" 1911s too, but I have not seen one in person yet. I can find the Kimber pretty easy around here. What size grips do you use for the Kimber if you wanted aftermarket ones? I want something like VZ Grips or similar Micarta grips on my 1911 when I get one I think.

I have shot several 1911s of friends, but never had one to call my own and I need to fix that one day.

I got my first Kimber CustomII for $609 in 2002, straight black finished model - I got a smoking deal on it.

No hiccups, no issues.

When I carry a 1911 now, it's either a Kimber Warrior or a Wilson Combat CQB.

I haven't settled on which compact 1911 that I want yet - I've looked at the Kimber Ultra Carry II.

My compact 1911 search always gets put on hold for some reason though. Now I have a H&K P7 PSP on the way. :D

what the heck, since wee talkin 1911s, heres my current fave.

Colt Commander, all steel, mildly modded by me.

Ruger LCP fan here. Cool little pistol, but not 9mm if that's what you're after.

I carried a Commander before switching to the 27. Loved it. Still own it. Still shoot it.

I carry a Glock 19 quite a bit now.

I carried it in a Desantis Die Hard ankle rig for 17 hours straight one day and several other days on a plain clothes security detail I was in charge of awhile back and didn't notice it. A lot of standing, walking, and kneel positions.

I've got a couple of friends with Para 45's, I would steer clear of Para all together after the experince they have had. One of them have had jamming issues from the start. He is unsure and what is causing it (him or the gun?) but his XD45 does not have a problem at all.

Gotta love the 1911 format. I've carried an Officer's Model for years with no problems, even pushing +P down the pipe. I guess a few tricks performed by Baer hasn't hurt, either.

Ah, but in my older days, simplicity is fast becoming important. I've been carrying a SP 101 in .357 (that little 2" is a beast to handle, even with factory loads) or a Smith Model 38 or 637. I'm starting to enjoy the little wheelie snubbies as a main carry gun. That said, I've recently fired the Springfield Micro XD, and I wouldn't mind that one on my hip, either.

Those are some great pictures. I do like your 1911 but I am really interested in learning more about the long gun in your photo. I can't tell what it is. Details about the rifle, stock and any mods would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Looks like an SKS with a Tapco stock

They nailed it....

Its one of my SKSs, This one is a Norinco, factory code puts it built somewhere in the late 70s early 80s. I put this one in a Tapco T6 stock, so I coulds use Tapcos 20rd mags. IMO this s the only way to have a reliable high Cap SKS. Unless you get one of the rarer SKS M models that accept AK mags.
Which I am currently looking for. I have 2 Chinese Norincos, and the other is un bubbad, all stock. Great guns these SKSs, and they are dryin up fast.

Other than my NAA .22 mag mini revolver, I can't find a decent sized EDC gun that is comfortable for me to wear. I have been thinking about a bigger pocket pistol. The new Ruger LCP has my attention right now. I am lucky in NY to even have a permit that allows me to carry without restrictions!

looks like a sweet gun,I held one but never fired one ... it is compact with a knock out punch...surely they have aftermarket fixer uppers for it ?

I want an LCP pretty bad myself. A buddy has one and it a nice little pocket pistol. Be aware though they are on maybe Gen 5 of that one and they just had a big recall for them wanting to bump fire. ... last thing I need is to bump fire a pocket pistol .... :D

I wanna know how they fit 10-12 rounds in that lil' thing? It must have a FAT grip/mag because it looks way smaller tham my G26...
