:
Hi Gang.
Sorry for the absence but we ran up to a small town in Kali-Fornication on about the same latitude as 'Frisco called Copperopolis to see Barb's brother. And although they have a computer they're not online.
The area was a welcome respite to the abnormally hot weather Phoenix is having, about 10 degrees over norm the weather people say.
We got there at 3:30 a.m. Sat morn and got them up.
They had a wedding that they had to attend that day and we were invited, but decided to stay home until the reception.
We were up fairly late Saturday night and then left about noon on Sunday.
We got back to Phoenix and Penny's place at 12:30 a.m.
A good quick trip!!!! Penny came down sick on the way home so was extra specially glad to be home.
And it seems the heavy Smog was enough to set off my sinuses just as it did way back when, hopefully they will clear up on their own by this weekend.
I had really terrible resperatory problems when I lived in Yucaipa and worked in Ontario.
The docs in So Cal told me to either move or die back in '79 so I did.
I couldn't hardly believe my eyes as we went through the pass at Banning, just up from Palm Springs.
There seems to be thousands of huge wind generated turbines to make more electricity with planted all over the ridges on the hill and mountain sides. And also up around Tehachipi(sp?).
I have to applaude the alternative power source since they Dayumed Sure Don't Need any more Smog and the towers have a sort of strange etheral beauty!!!!
Going through the pass one could just barely see San Jacinto and San Gorgonio Mountain had disappeared behind the veil of Smog!!!!
And where I used to happily hunt rabbits is now full of houses in various states of repair.
It was on the Morongo Indin Rez back then and probably still is from its appearance. Typical Rez and what makes me really angry is that there is absolutely no excuse for it to be that way there!!!!
There is plenty of work to be had unlike the Ridge and Rosebud where one can't hardly beg a job. That's why I say I don't care for Blanket Asses either!!!! Sometimes or always I guess there are always the few who don't want to work no matter the race, but I always get really angry when the opportunity is there and so many don't take advantage of it.
I was aquainted and friends with many of the people when I lived there. That's one of the reasons I pretty much had free reign as to where I could go on the rez.
And the ndns there that I knew were all hard working people with fairly decent jobs.
I am even happier now that I left there 21 years ago!!!!!
But when I went home to Tulsa after 6 years it too had changed, but not nearly so much and for dayumed sure not not nearly as extreme.
And seeing California, hopefully for the last time, I am even more appreciative of the still wild areas that are in Oklahoma. But I know that in another 21 years it is going to change even more with fewer and fewer wild areas close to town.
I am glad that I am of the age that I am and that I won't be around to see all the wild areas gone forever.
And I am at least glad too see that the area we were in still wasn't that bad. I have always loved Northern California and I pray the people up there keep things as much like they are now up there as it is possible to do so.
Sorry for the rant, just frustrated with what happens to our only home every day now. And after hearing Dick Cheney on the news this evening it appears that things may get worse before they get better.
Someday someone is gonna wake up and find out it's too late to change things for the good I am afraid.
