I've just ordered myself one of these new Leather Bushcraft belt pouches from Mark Wohlwend and already I'm getting excited thinking what little survival items I can fill it with.:o
This will be carried on my belt at all times when hiking, regardless of whether I have another pack or not.

I have a good idea of what I'm gonna carry but thought it would be fun to hear what items you would all throw in there ?:D

Specs..5-6 oz leather, just over 5 inches wide, 4 3/4 tall, hand tooled and hot dipped in oil.
These will be small variations between pouches because..well....they are handmade!

I made a couple of those about a year ago, and gave them away to guys that came to my get togethers. They used them for fire kit pouches. They are a good size for that.

I just found a pic of the one I made for Rockywolf for his survival kit.

Here is a little "twist" on the pouch idea, a kydex sheath on the back held on by Chicago screws.

This shows the utility knife out of the sheath.

Yeah I think my main items will be fire kit oriented John. With an Altoids tin there should still be room for a few small items. Gonna throw in my Rare Earth magnet compass for sure !

Not one suggestion eh ???? If I wind up dead because I've forgot to pack some dental floss and know who to blame !:D

I like old school looking leather pouches like that. I run pretty lean on psk type stuff but a firestarter, small sharpener, led light and a SAK or small psk sized knife would be perfect in there. Maybe add some cord and a mylar space blanket and you would be good to go.

From your pics I know you hike quite a bit... if this is your only kit pouch for the day then... 2 or 3 bandaids would be good to have...

Ski

Small tinder kit, match safe, compass, P-38, and a SAK or some sorts (Pioneer, Farmer, ect....) dedicated for that kit alone.

Nice looking pouches BTW.

along with the space blanket, maybe an emergency poncho. some non-lubed condoms of course. a little light with a spare battery. some electrolyte pouches/tablets and some pills (painkiller, anti-diahrreal, etc.) in a water tight capsule. some tape and gauze. water purification pills. a little compass. some triple anti-biotic and steril wipes. fishing line and some hooks and a needle. those little closure bandages. some paracord. signal mirror. a lighter or two and firesteel. some celox hemostatic. some reflective and some bright orange tape or other material for marking things.

many more things that you could consider ... probably can find many more ideas if you search for "survival kit" and other key terms. I have seen a lot of lists and pics on here.

Backup knife, duct tape, bic, Ferro rod, small tin filled with the guts of a road flare, bandana/cravat and maybe a small sharpener, chunk of fatwood, some matches and a striker, jute twine or dryer lint in a pill size zip lock. And maybe a heat sheet or space blanket depending on how big the interior is, but I doubt it would fit well with the specs listed.

Yours looks bigger but here's a couple of shots of my pouch, and it's contents:

In the Spy Capsule are: two lifeboats & striking strip, a couple of needles, some spyderwire and two tinderquicks.

nice looking pouch :)

can't tell from the pics, but if you can get a heatsheet in there, it would be a worthy addition

things that I feel I need on me (separate from my pack & it's contents) are a couple of fire starting bits, little bit of cordage, whistle, small compass, small light, a few water treatment tabs- looks like those would all fit pretty easily in the pouch

I vote for fire kit, some fatwood tooth picks, cotton balls and ferro rod. Of course you could always go with a folding knife, flashlight, compass, and bug repellant.

C'mon Pit ole' biddy, we all know "what" you should carry, but I also have an inkling to what you really "will" be carrying in it . . . . .
dog biscuits for Maisy . . . :D
Great looking pouch by the way, I'm sure you with all your time outdoors, you have all the bases covered. But when those two sad little eyes look up at you & all you have is some Micro-Pur tablets & Tinder Quick fire tabs & matches . . . just saying my good man . . . :)
Be safe.

How bout a couple baloney skins (condoms) in case you run into them cougars DOC mentioned lol
I like those trick birthday candles you know the ones that cant be blown out.very small and handy.A couple lengths of brass snare wire is always handy for quick repairs, binding and such.
And a fifty- useful for so much, legal tender, tinder in an extreme pinch and you can tell the wife its her turn for lunch you dont want to break a big bill

I always carry folded toilet paper in a ZipLoc sandwich bag, but that would be a lot classier!
