thabnks guys i hope to haev 2 knives done up with the burlap to show better how it looks on a blade
im still not sure how i want to go about cuttign the rest of the block up yet as you can see you get a real different look just but the way its cut

What do you do to keep the blocks to be from sticking to the inside of the press box.
I was thinking about trying this out but it seems like once they are dry it would all stick together or is there something I am not thinking of?
Thanks Will Crump

your missing the plastic wrapping the box and then just peal the plastic away having a box that comes apart easy is a sure way not to have to brake a wood box to bits :)

the box will not let the block out even when lined like i do you need to take it apart and put it back together over and over

the 2nd wood box made a few batches before it "gave" out
now i have a steel one with all 1/4 inch walls

Thanks for the answer to my question. I was guessing there had to be a sacraficial part to the process. Another question: Do you make large blocks and then cut them down? It looks like the burlap on the left is a top and bottom cut and the ones on the left are end cut.
Like I said I was thinking of trying this. I dont think I will come up with anything as nice as yours but who knows. For the most part i want to try jest to try.
Thanks again Will Crump

yep i make blocks that are 6x10 and depth dependent on mass ive made as deep as 4 inch and most the time keep it to 1.5-2 as it just seems to work better for cutting
good luck making its fun and madening work your way to bigger batches cause you be tossing some out (i still have rather high waste in some batches and some out and out fail)

I like that second set of burlap you made. The pair on the left remind me of a diamondback rattlesnake. You should nickname the knife you use it on as a rattler or something. Great job on all of it.
