NEW product HI - Der Hauswehr

I'ma bump this one to ask, how much did it weigh, and did they end up making more?

Also, cute dog. "What is this crazy human doing up there?"

UPDATE - 2/11/2010

I have had a little time practicing with my knife grinder and I went to work on the hauswehr. I put in the "Facets" in the crossguard and made the last 6" of the blade double-edged, as was the Austrian original. My buffer has yet to actually show any results, (I dont know if I have the wrong wheel on there or what?) so you are seeing it kind of rough.
I will clean up any asymmetries tomorrow and as soon as I can get my buffer to work, I will fix it up nice. The one problem I can't fix is the buttcap. In rounding out the back of the "cocked hat" I cut down into some paper-thin regions of brass that are sharp and cut my hands up pretty easily. I'll figure that one out later.

For now, I can say that the hauswehr feels MUCH better with several ounces of steel gone from the tip. Also, the tip is now basically the same as a broadsword tip and more than capable of easy penetration. Furthermore, the "Facets" in the guard make cutting much easier on the wrist and index finger, as there are no edges to cut into me when the blade pivots.
Sorry the pictures are not so good, but maybe you can see what I am talking about here.

Danny, you've done us all a good deed by bringing this model to the fore. Job on the mods.

I look forward to seeing this model more often.

At first I thought you said a Nepali Cinqueda would be smurfin' woot. Looks like I need to stop taking the pills that aren't prescribed and start taking the one that are. :foot:

Frank

Frank my friend that can get you in trouble either way..... :o  :foot:  :thumbdn: :(

Danny I really like what you've done with your modifications, makes it look much more like the original knife which I really like a lot!  :D

Yvsa, email me your address and I'll send the hauswehr to you. You can play around with it and pass it on. What do you think? Maybe by the time it visits everybody, it will be perfect and we can send it back to Yangdu.

Danny thanks for the vote of confidence but I'm still in recovery and simply don't have the strength -- or stamina -- as yet to take on such a job......:(

Edit:
Need to add that there's plenty more here just as capable or more so than I am. You won't have any trouble choosing someone. :D

Danny,
I keep seeing this beautiful blade in my minds eye:)
It sure has progressed to a very nice piece. I really would enjnoy getting one someday if they become available. I have always liked the blade geometry of the Grosse Messer and I can feel the utility of having this shorter baby on my sword belt:)

Thanks for the updates.

Be Well,
Mark

So are these available to all now or only special order items? I am also curious about the Kopis.

Last thing to mention and this is a general point on pictures, why doesn't anyone include something for scale? A ruler or a known size item? It would sure make the pictures a lot more meaningful to m e at least. Not all of them of course, there is certainly room for artistic license but at least one of them maybe?

OK, I am done. :) I am serious about wanting both one of these and a Kopis though.

Send Yangdu an email and order one. It's just that easy. It may take a month or it may be in stock, you just never know, but it will always be awesome.

So..... how much does one of these run??? I hope I am not being rude, but my better half has me on a budget and I have to "plan" for the toys that I want now.... :(
