Here's a trail knife order I'm finishing up. It's going out with some PSK knives in a piggyback.

Everything is a tad bit dirty in the photos. The wood is only down to 220 grit, and not oiled. About what the walnut convex EDC looked like at this stage.

With the exposed tang rear I had to do some chopping (you can see a few marks on the blade from that where the 400/600 grit scratch pattern got wiped). Once I put a bit of radius on all the rear tang edges it becamse very comfortable in a rea chopping grip, and fits the handle very sell up forward, too.

I'm okay with the penetration in throwing. i wasn't really whaling since the handles are one, but I got a consistent 1.75 inches into dried maple logs. I'll call it a decent tip, goes in and doesn't snap

long, long roundback seax- the modern seax design.

I got a little crazy having fun chopping while making sure all was good with this one. Chopped a lot of stuff down around the yard. got 2 inches of penetration in throwing. stabs wonderfully. And the tip speed is fun for slicing boxes.

Anyway:
5160, OAL 15.5, blade is 9.375.

It's thick. And a bit heavier than the norm. But I'd pit it against any pig in CA

The straight edge is a bit odd to figure out when chopping, there's not belly aided sweet spot. The tip is vicious, and nimble- once you have the range, picking off individual flowers from a rosebuch is no problem.

It does the poking thing VERY well, and the ergonomics are nice.

Here's a set of three in burgundy micarta.

the slim finn is diff. tempered 15N20, with a thin scandivex grind that's insane.

The leuku bushcrafter is nominally 3/16 and full convex ground, differentially tempered 8670M - pretty big as this style goes at 1.25 inches OAL with a 6.25 inch blade. But it is the do everything blade in the set.

The larger dirk pattern blade has a different handle shape, a bit thinner across than the leuku pattern, which really matches with the style of usage for the knife. There's a relieved partial top grind to improve the weight balance and it handles really well. That one is in the 10 inch range and 5160.

That's a modification of the field dirk style. the handle is a bit longer and the overall blade is a hair thinner and lighter. It's also a wee bit (3 inches) longer.

There's a relieved revers convex along the top, not to form a secondary edge but to lighten things up a bit.
