So, I drove an hour yesterday with my heart set on getting a new knife. I had it picked out, set aside and everything. I've been a long time Spyderco user, abuser, fan and loyal customer... but I was pretty set on getting an Emerson.

Well, I got the store and started looking at what they had: CRKs, Lightfoots, Emersons and of course Spydercos...

I was dead set on getting an Emerson CQC-14. I got to handle an Unumzaan, the 14... all sorts of nice customs but... started handling the Spyders and damn it I just knew I was getting one. I checked out the Barong, Kuhkri, Police 3 and Sage but there could only be one...

The owner handed me a new CF S90V Millie... SOLD!! As soon as I handled it I just knew that it was the "one." Now, this is by no means my first Millie but I just found it interesting how after handling so many great knives and even deciding beforehand which one I was going to get that I was immediately sold on the CF Millie... IMHO, it felt better than any of the customs or production knives I handled that day (maybe with the exception of the Lightfoot Thresher...).

I guess, once you go Spyderco, you never go back...
Anybody else feel this way?

Totally. I've been telling myself for months that I've got to actually buy a benchmade instead of borrow and fondle. Or another CRKT, maybe something else.

But, when I got the cash in hand, it all went to a Caly3 CF and a SuperHawk. :o

Nice grab on the S90V Military though. It is a wonderful knife. Edge retention is the highest I've seen.

Bro, I didn't even have to handle it... I just saw it under the glass... love at first sight.

Benchmade, they make great products, with excellent fit and finish... but everytime I get one I get rid of it. Spyders IMHO opinion were and are designed for the distinguished knife "user."

It's kind of ironic how my buying habits and preferences in knives work out.
Primary example: The Military is right now my absolutely most favorite knife in the world, but I got my first one simply for the BG-42 blade. Didn't care for the pattern much, hated the liner lock, and now I cant' get enough of 'em.
That's one knife I fell in love with instantly.

Similar situation with the Superhawk. I only bought it because I wanted to support it as a forum project, now it's one of my favorites (though it took a few months for the design to grow on me).

Now I have a Police III in the mail, and have no idea what to expect.

The same happened with me. After I started to use Spyderco, I sold all my BMs.
Couple years ago I bought three Kershaws: Nakamura, Ti/ZDP Mini-Cyclone and SG2 Blur. I didn't like ergos of Mini-Cyclone (IMHO this knife just need finger choil0, Nakamura didn't impressed me with beauty, Blur was the best, but not as good as my Spidies. So all of them are gone. Now I am not even not looking at other knife, why waste time.

Great choice! Happened to me not too long ago with the D2 Para. Went in for one thing, and came out with another. :D

I'm axiously awaiting the R.I.L. Sage, so that's a definite but depending on price I may end up with another one while I'm there. That's the good thing about being able to handle things in person. Sometimes you may be put off by the look but when you hold it, it's a whole different story.

Congrats again on a great knife

I was collecting Buck, Kershaw and Benchmade, all makers who manufacture a fine product. However, regardless of which alternate maker I buy, they are just not a Spydie.

When I first got a Military, I was surprised at the size, but amazed that it carried so well. Now, four CF Millies, a D-2 and a black S30V later, the Millie remains one of my favorite EDC knives.

I will be buying more Millies as Sal cranks them out. IMO, they are simply the best.

Great knife, but since variety is the spice of life, you have to go back and buy all the others.

Yep, same here. Sold most of my other knives to get funds for more Millies and a couple of Paras. Absolute favorites!

Now I have a problem: Just like after owning Soldiers and Pioneers I would look for any other SAK, same is happening to Spydies...
