New Queen lockback sodbuster in green linen micarta.

Good thick handles on these, most knives benefit from thicker handles as it makes use more comfortable.

I like the Country Cousins for this, and other reasons. The blade appears well off-centre on yours, hope it's not a liner toucher?

Really nice material the green M, gives the sodbuster the right look, tough too!

Thanks, Will

That is a great looking lockback Sodbuster! I have been wanting to see a Sodbuster with a lock for a while now. I haven't seen one unitl now, and I would love to get my hands on one. Everything about this knife screams the perfect lockback to me. Thanks for sharing!

The blade is actually pretty well centered on the lockback, the angle I'm taking the picture makes it look like it's close to the liner but it's not. The non locking soddie though is pretty close to rubbing, though I do have another that is perfect centering so maybe it's a fluke.

You can shoot me a message if you want to know where to buy the locking sodbuster. SO far the place I bought it from is the only place I know where to buy it from. If you are looking for hte non locking version, Colectorsknives.net has them. Mike , the owner, is a supporter of BF and good dude to deal with so I like to refer you to him! Trevor~

Thanks Trevor. It looks like my kind of knife. I nabbed one and it should be on the way.

It's good to see Queen back on top of things. There seems to be a resurgence in interest with more simplistic lockbacks, and Sodbusters. I too like most here, am fond of Micarta in general, and I find it to be at home on working knives such as these. As good as the lockback looks I'm digging the slipjoint Sodbuster.

Phew, looks like this batch went quick! Seems like they're sold out everywhere already... I hope they keep this one in the lineup, so we can all have a chance to grab one! ;)

My new Queen lockback sodbuster in linen micarta has arrived! All in all I really like the knife, comes shaving sharp and the blade locks tight. The lock release is a little on the tough side but nothing that I feel is a problem, it may even loosen with some use.

I received my Locking Queen Soddie today, and it is IMPOSSIBLE to disengage the lock! Some closings have required 3-4 tries to gain enough leverage and exert enough force to disengage this thing. I resorted to taking a thick piece of hard leather to work the lock a bit, but once open it is stubborn, even painful to disengage this lock.
The bulk of my collection is lockbacks, and this one is by far the hardest one to close. I will continue to work this one some more, and see if it eases up a bit, but if not this knife will see no time in my pocket. It doesn't seem to just be the fit of the lock to the blade, the spring this lockbar rides on is a stiff one.

Sorry to put this so bluntly, but I post this here as a possible warning to others.

That is disappointing, sorry to hear that Duane:( Mine is a little stiffer than I'm used to on lock backs but I can still one hand close it. I've had a few others ask where I bought mine so they could get their hands on one, I hope they have better results. Anyone who gets one, please report your findings.

No worries Trev, I emailed Queen to get info on a return for service an left a voice mail with Mr. Daniels. I will keep you posted on how that all goes.
This is a really great size for a pocket knife, and did come quite sharp. I love Queens D2 so am hoping for the best with this one. Here is a pic of mine, and it looks like either the lockbar isn't as thin, or my cutout isn't as deep. Either one of these would impede easy disengagement of the lock.

Forgive the incandescent lighting...

Update: yesterday I received a replacement knife from Queen. Roughly 3-1/2 weeks, not too shabby of a turnaround from what I have experienced dealing with other Mfg.'s. I had called in to Queen and left a message for Mr. Daniels, he called me back the next day, Twice, till he got a hold of me. We had a very pleasant conversation. My email from cust. service was answered the next day as well. All in all I am extremely pleased with the response from Queen, actually, I was quite impressed by the response from Mr. Daniels.
Now back to the knife. The replacement opens smoothly, and is quite easy to disengage the lock to close. Fit and finish are very acceptable for this sample, and I am not going to nit pic this one. Sharpness...well... this one wouldn't cut a piece of stiff paper out of the box...not a big deal for me, but surprising considering that the first one actually was sharp. Next the pics...same lighting as before, but look closely at the lockbar:

Not surprising that the first one was nigh on impossible to close, just not enough metal was left for proper leverage/movement to disengage the lock.
I really like this knife, and am glad that I sent it in to get my issues resolved. It took on a razor sharp edge with relatively short work on the diamond stones and strop.
I would guess that I got a fluke first time around... ( I do seem to have that luck when trying new knives).

Now that´s a great looking knife, Duane. I´m glad it worked out that well with your costumer service with Queen Cutlery.

Really dead thread, but my #49 seems flat or close to it. Best bet is to find a reputable dealer(gunstock jacks maybe?) and they can simply look at the model and tell you. Good luck
