I did some calling around yesterday and ended up finding an Esso line of quench oils called Fenso. I haven't seen it mentioned here but one thing that is somewhat apparent is the elusivity of good/fast quench oil. So I thought I'd pass it along.

It is only available to me (so far) in 205 litre drum for $750.00 CDN plus tax, plus deposit.

If I could distribute 8 or 9 pails I would get a drum but I don't think there's that big of a market this side of the border. I can't imagine the headache it would be shipping 5 gallons of oil across the border.

The Fenso-90 looks like it's pretty close to Parks#50 in terms of speed, viscosity and flash point.

Good find!! In my work we do alot of business with Imperial Oil. I will talk with my sale rep., to see if I can get better pricing or small quanities.

I found this company in Toronto http://www.apcoindustries.com/

They will sell me Park AAA in 5 gallons, but I have to pick it up. Not to bad as it is only a 45 minute drive. I need to call them again, to see if I can get Park #50 in 5 gallon buckets also.

At this point, unfortunately, I'm going to take the mad scientist approach. I've been studying viscosity, flash point of various fluids and am reasonably confident that I can come up with something that at the right temperature will satisfactorily quench 1095.
