Like it. Alot actually. Wish they would have used 1095 cro, M390, or D2 for the blade though. Still might end up with one. Reminds me should get another Hobo.

I love everything about it except the made in China part. Still think it's a good buy though and will be purchasing one anyway. I've been wishing Buck would make this knife or update the 110 but looks like Ka-Bar beat them to it.
 
It's a 110 with ambi-thumb studs, either side pocket clip and a lanyard hole ... made by KaBar; I'll be getting a couple!
 
Why they didn't do a 440C or even an AUS8 befuddles me..

I generally (like, unless it is a Buck and has a Paul Bos HT) will not pay more than $10 for 420...
 
Great looking blade but made in China!! Come on KaBar, you can make it stateside and charge 30 and probably sell more than this at 20. Great looking and don't mind the 420 stainless at all, though I'm sure it's not as good as Bucks 420, I'd buy one but not from China, to many alternatives stateside.
 
I'm on board with with the "meh" dogpile here.

If they made it in the US with their excellent 1095CV, I'd have one right away. But as it stands, I can let this one just roll on by.
 
C'mon Kabar!! Up that blade steel a little bit! Even at $50 they'll still sell! Want proof? Buck 110.
 
I just ordered one. It's like the 110 update I've wanted for awhile. I doubt the grind is as thin, but oh well. I would also prefer a little better steel. Even 5cr15mov in the upper 50s HRC like what Kabar put on the Snody and Dozier neck knives would be preferred. They got me to buy one though, so there's that.
 
Being a KA-BAR fan, I think I can say this fairly; they almost got it right, but then they had to go the whole China route with it and ruin what would have been a stupendously awesome folder. The design is great, the materials.....insulting.

Another miss KA-BAR.

I know there are different perspectives on the China thing, and I don't want to start that debate here but personally, I don't care where it is made as long as it is quality. Even by that metric though, it is lacking. I can get a Byrd with 8cr13mov and about 8 points higher rockwell for a couple bucks less. I mean, I'm a sucker for the design and I like the long blade, but I wish they wouldn't have skimped on the blade steel and heat treat. I at least hope the hollow grind isn't short and shallow.

I'm totally with you here. The Bryd line, while hit or miss on F&F, is proof that China materials, under the right specs and quality control, can be good stuff.

I'm not a total snob when it comes to steel. I just know what I like and I like China's offerings less and less....the exception being, of course, Spyderco and some few other brands.

KA-BAR might have done better having this knife made elsewhere, from better materials, and charging just a bit more for it, like someone mentioned above.

Im on the 1095 band wagon as well here. A but load of traditional knives are made with 1095 blades. Most of those knives fly off the shelf with long waiting lines because people trusts 1095. And we all know KA-BAR has mucho 1095 and can do it right.

It's a shame to see another good idea made in China. I guess it will compete well with Rough Rider, Schrade and the others. I just hate to see a great brand get more deluded.:mad:
