New Roach Belly

Thanks Chuck, I think you anticipated my question. After reading through your link, do I understand right that "roach belly" refers to the blade rather than the handle? The sheaths were beautiful, and that carved handle blew me away.
 
Dave - yep the blade shape is what garners the name - a variation of the "french chef's" blade shape and which as Mike Hull noted is the basic Mediterranean using knife shape.
 
The older makers seemed to know what they were doing even on the bargain knives.
Yep and continue to have an influence on modern makers includign some of the best of the best:
