New S&M Rail Splitter (Better Pictures)

I'm a big GEC fan, but I fell out of like with my Cattle Rancher when I received the Railsplitter. I can't quite put my finger on it, the knife feels light in the pocket but substantial in the hand. This is the pattern that I have been actively looking for a back up. It's a 2003 Premier Series Schatt & Morgan. Very cool looking knife.

EDIT: Here are a couple quick pictures of the Railsplitter with the Cattle Rancher. Personally, I find the Cattle Rancher a more attractive knife, with the long pulls and deep swedges. Plus I'm a big fan of yellow bone. But the Railsplitter feels better in the hand and in the pocket.

Ed ..... Rick ..... Michael ..... Thank you much for your comments & pics. I just pulled the trigger on an amber worm groove bone Railsplitter - can't wait 'till it arrives! I haven't been this excited about a new knife for quite a while! :D

Like others have said, this is one fine knife. I just got one with Crimson bone. My picture does not do justice for this knife. The heft of it just feels so good and I am sure it will be enjoyed for many years ahead.

Congrats to you both. Good move.

Thunder47,
I think you forgot the pic. I would love to see it.

Rick, do you own the 2003 premier series Railsplitter? If you do, you should put up a picture. That knife keeps eluding me.

I'm sorry to say that I do not own that one, Michael :( but I certainly would like to.

The ones in this pic are the only Railsplitters that I own.

Great knife and pattern, Ed, I really like the wormgroove bone. It does carry smaller than a GEC #53 pattern, but feels just as big in the hand.
My only one is a limited release RAT in sheep horn and D2 steel, a very special knife to me.

Railsplitter, the one I got looks just like the second one down in the pic that you posted. Great knife. Having trouble posting pictures.

If Case and/or GEC would make a Railsplitter Stockman I would be dancin' in the streets! Highly recommended.:thumbup::thumbup:[/QUOTE said:
Sshhh! They might just do that, and I'm broke for a while with us getting ready to move to Dallas! Ohh that would be good!!
Modoc ED those pictures as mentioned look a lot better; well done:thumbup:!

Railsplitter,
What is your opinion/experience with the Colt Railsplitter? Looks nice and very inexpensive.

You should definately get one. Like you said, they are very inexpensive, and they are also quite well made for that price.

I have never used mine but I think it would stand up to it just fine. Someone commented on this forum a while back that they are a step up from Rough Riders and I would agree.

The addition of the fourth blade makes it thicker than the Schatts. It's a pretty hefty knife. No blade play on any of the blades on my example and walk & talk is at least average if not a little better. The blades do rub each other a little but that is to be expected IMO.

Whoever made these did a great job on the Bone Stag too.

I cannot imagine you not liking it of you got one.

Wow, going through this thread for the first time has worked me up to a fever-pitch to find and buy this knife (and whittle something! :D).
I figured I would stay away from Queen knives after a debacle with the Dan Burke Barlow [no longer with me] but this pattern is giving me second thoughts...
