New scale colors

I noticed this morning that the new scale colors are in stock, I couldn't resist and ordered and orange and OD green.....:D It's my understanding were not suppose to mention vendors......so lets say there in the frag pattern.:eek: 550/551
 
Its best to not monkey around if you want to get in on this! Thank you for the heads up! I have been looking for an orange scale for months!!

The one thing I didn't care for on the 0550/0551 were the scales. Then I saw one for sale on the large auction site with different scales. The one for sale has carbon fiber.

If I ever get one it will have primate scales.
 
Do most people seem to prefer the frag pattern over the XM? Are the XM pattern just like the 560s but flat? I've got gray frags on my 0550 but stock on the 551. I don't mind the pattern on the 551. Is it mostly wanting color or do people also dislike the pattern?

I don't like the pattern on the stock 550, which is why I bought a frag pattern one. I want to try the XM pattern, but then I'll have spent over 100 bucks on a knife worth 200 dollars.
 
I was really excited there for a second, but I already own the frag version for my 0550. :(

I hope Rick/ZT would get around to making some more of the XM texture version so I can put one for my 0551. They would look so good together!

And yes, oregonknifenerd, I do think the stock scales look awful. Even plain G10 would have been better IMO, but to each their own. Doesn't affect the performance of an otherwise, top quality knife. :cool:

Jack 19- There are basically two styles of scales being made, (mind you there are some custom ones from some BF members also) And one of the styles are the frag pattern-which tells you were to get them from, sorry I'm new and don't want to have to sit in the time out corner for mentioning the vendor:cool:
 
Oldbugr, I understand. I think I figured it out....hey, I've been registered 7 years and I'm new too.
 
Orange ordered. Going to take the Red Frags off and think long and hard as to if I want to put them in the exchange. I started to really enjoy the red after having to settle when Orange wasn't in stock.

I may end up with another 055X if I'm not careful :)
 
I've seen monkey edge mentioned quite a few times on this forum without censure, i'm like 95% sure they're kosher to talk about. When i was browsing online i thought the xm pattern was much better than the frag pattern but once i got my scale from monkey edge (i wanted a red scale) i fell in love with it. it's super grippy but not the least bit uncomfortable.
 
That page isn't working for me... ugh. I want an orange one, or at least that digi cam. *sigh*
 
Did anyone else notice that while the rush was on for Frags, Rick Hinderer's 055X section of his site was nearly down? I went over to check (Knife Art was still out of a lot of colors) before ordering my Orange Frags and got a puked up half-a-website when I clicked on Rick's 055X scales section.
