Having had some thoughts about the original wood-scales on my 211 activator being rather brittle, i decided to change them to some.. Stuff, i ordered from classical knifekits a while back.
It might be kydex, faked as carbonfiber, or it might be real carbonfiber. I wouldn`t know, as i haven`t touched anything even remotely resembling carbonfiber before.
The tools i used for the job, was a small file that i shaped so i could unscrew the torx. Which is when i decided that i need a set of bits that fit knife-related screws. Atleast i got them off.
Then i marked up the size i needed to cut out of the sheet of CF, cut it out with a large-toothed woodsaw i have.
I proceeded to carve out the shape of the handles slightly, and then i fastened the scales back on, using the file as a screwdriver on the torx screws.
After that, i carved the CF to the outline of the knifehandle, and just chamfered the edge of the kydex/CF-stuff with a pocket knife.
Then i took some of the finest sandpaper i have to the edge, and just took out most of the knife-cuts.
After that, i just took a lighter-flame to it, to darken the sandpapered bits.
So, from this:
To this:
It`s not too shabby i hope, from the tools i had at hand atleast.
Not a true customization or proper embellishment.. But it`s my main knife, and i needed the handle to be sturdier than the wood was.
So it`s good enough for me.
*proud*
