I just bought this knife last night and today I put new scales on it. I haven't finished the other side yet. It will be a different shape and maybe thinner because of the pocket clip. Commets welcome and appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Thanks! The name of this wood is molave and it's from the Phillipines. Someone gave me a whole bunch of scraps and it's all burl, I think. It's hard to tell until you polish it.

The finish is thinned epoxy. It brings out the figure while still looking natural as if there's no finish..

I just did the scale for the back side the back side. I'll post pictures tomorrow.

Thanks for looking.

Very nice looking!! can't wait to see it all when you've finished.
I've been thinking of doing something similar with my storm II as i'm not particularly fond of the trac-tec inserts although i do like the grippiness of it.
Aesthetics are everything.

That looks simply fantastic, Ray!

Thanks for sharing your work...

Edit: ditto for the back side...

Ray :)

Very NICE!...However, that is a Groove that only a long-time moderator of BladeForums should own (me), so please send that one to me and I'll send you my plain Groove.:D.

Here's the back side of the knife. I made the scale on this side is thinner because of the clip. I think it turned out nice:thumbup:

Glockman, it belongs to a knifemaker like ME!!:D:D:D:D

Hi Ray: Very nice work! I particularly like how the center handle screw on the front side ended up perfectly centered in that light spot in the wood. Very pretty!
