Here is a new scrim that I just got the photos back on. Handle material is white corian. I did the scrim myself.

Nice work George! Is the technique called stipple? I tend to like it better then line. If you don't mind me asking, are you self taught or did you have some hands on instruction? Feel free to tell me anything I didn't think to ask.

Thanks for sharing your work

George,

Very nice!

I can't believe that I have been throwing out Corian counter top "sink cut-outs" for years. Looks like Corian makes a pretty good knife handle.

Andrew the technique is a stipple technique more commonly called pointillist. I took a one day course in technical pen drawing to help refine my self taught technique. Doing things one dot at a time is a relatively easy method because you have lots of time to think.

Michael the corian is not the toughest material for handles but it is great for scrimshaw because it has no grain at all.

This one was a real problem for Carol to photograph because the scrim wraps around
the curve of the handle, I think she did a pretty good job though.

I would like to do more but it takes a lot of time that I just don't have. This one took between 12 and 14 hours. I only do about 3 scrims per year.

Hey George...

Boy,, were your ears burning last night...

Jeff Diotte and I were just talking about you and your scrim last night..

I'd never seen any of your work, but Jeff assured me it was First Rate..

Guess he was Absolutely correct..

BTW Hope you are feeling better..

I've seen some pretty big ones in Ontario and seen mounts this size as well but this photo is taken from an article on Saskatchewan deer hunting .

I actually do not bother with deer hunting, I am a moose hunter myself.

Carol shot a whole roll on this one trying to get it but the curve of the handle kept cutting off part of the scrim, that is why the nose looks a little short.
