The spec position for the lock is to cover 75% of the blade. If it falls naturally further than that, we will adjust it.
Greetings: I will share what limited knowledge I have regarding the Sebenza lock bar position. Chris Reeve's Sebenza construction is deceptively simple but, for a folding knife it is highly precise. A small repositioning of the top or bottom plates will result in a noticeable change in the lock bar position as it seats on the blade tang. I have been playing with my small left handed 21 for about a week while reading this forum's archives back to 2002. If you have not disassembled, cleaned and lubed your new Sebenza I suggest you do so. The process of taking it apart and putting it back together will likely result in a positional change in the fully seated lock bar. I believe the acceptable range for factory specifications is between 50 and 75 percent contact of a fully seated lockbar relative to the blade tang. I was initially concerned with mine as it appeared to be at about 80 to 90 percent of its maximum travel. Disassembly and reassembly changed this to no more than 60 percent as it is now. Once the screws are tightened the lock bar position is VERY stable in it's current location. OldDude1
We know that a lot of owners of Sebenzas like to adjust the lock and the pivot etc. but we DO discourage this. When we ship the knives, they work the way they are intended and modifications usually end up with something not working right!
