Per some side discussion in an unrelated thread a few of us have been discussing a new SM rod that grit wise would fall in between the diamond/CBN (to my recollection, they are about the same) and the mediums that come with the kit. Lance had mentioned he chatted with Sal and Sal seemed interested. So as it goes let's gage some interests.
A finer diamond was brought up and I'm also curious about a more coarse ceramic. I prefer the feel of the ceramic stones plus they come in cheaper it seems. I really like the finish that the mediums give you, but think the gap between the diamond and the mediums could be bridged. Also, if you would prefer a rougher finish than the mediums, but more honed than the diamond, you are out of luck and that is a good range being missed out on. I for one think if an ultra fine can be justified, then this certainly can. I don't know approximate grit levels, but am just going off of feel as I'm using the stones and time spent on the mediums after using the diamond.
