I posted pics of my Breeden Bushcrafter a while back and since then I've really come to love this knife. Probably the sharpest fixed blade knife I own. It's got the quality and performance you'd expect from one of Bryan's blades.
I got the knife in anticipation of a deployment to Afghanistan: it replaces my old USAF Pilot's survival knife. Bryan made a heck of nice pouch sheath for it, but I thought something a little more "tacticool" with some positive retention would be worthwhile, so I purchased a SpecOps Combatmaster sheath.
This sheath is nylon with a plastic sheath liner. The problem was that the knife would rattle because the plastic liner was just too big. Not cool, not even "tacticool." I tried to heat and shape the liner but it became too distorted as I tried to fit it. No good.
So I got a sheet of Kydex from the web and had a go at making my first Kydex sheath liner. She ain't pretty but this new liner is tight, rattle free and quite secure. Overall I am very satisfied with the sheath and the custom liner for a custom knife.
It was fairly smooth 'til I tried using a heat gun to soften it in order to make it a little tighter.
Assembled and ready to go. Had to include a glamor shot:
It was my first time trying to bend Kydex and it went fairly well, nevertheless, I somehow doubt there is a custom sheathmaker career in my future.
