I got a nice neck sheath with this knife but it is kind of hot and since I use it at home a lot I wanted something I could put on quick when I was going outside so I got this really great clip sheath from JRE industries.

I was a bit skeptical of clip sheaths but this is easy to get on, hard to pull off accidentally and easy to remove.

I had him make the scales on this extra wide for extra comfort when doing extended cutting Bushcrafty stuff. It's a great blade

Made a really nice blade even better

Charles May, right? I love his stuff. I've really been liking all the JRE stuff I've seen, too. I don't own any of their stuff... yet...

Seeing another 'bushy' knife is really beginning to convince me that I need that Koster bushcraft blade. I've been wanting a blade like that for a long time..time to figure out what I can sell off!

Glad the clipped worked out, too. Ever since I lost a boot knife with a clip sheath while in the woods as a kid, I've had a hard time trusting them.

looks like a cool sheath.... i'm not too sure what i think about the clip though....

I had a custom sheath with am identical clip custom made for my f1 from jre industries I've had it out in the field for dayts at a time the clip is solid...and functional it also allows me to cary the knife inside my waistband if I want to keep a low profile...(extra incentive to keep the pounds off)

HD,
Great looking sheath, but that Charles May knife rocks. I really love that style of straight back scandi blade.

Yeah when I ordered it I ordered it scandi grind and told him to make the scales extra wide.

There was a long lag time in ordering/delivery and when I got it it had super thin scales, like only 1/2" across the back!! And it was regular grind!!! I guess he had forgot my order specs:thumbdn::(

So I emailed him and he said send it back and in a few weeks I got this one. Scandi grind. Scales are 11/16 across and it exceeds all my expectations. I was so impressed with his work and his response to the mistake I ordered another from him:thumbup:

That looks great. JRE really makes a helluva nice sheath, and their prices are nice too.

I thought that Charles May had more contouring laterally??? Hmmm.

NICE sheaths. I like JRE.

FB. NO. I've never seen any Charles May's that were contoured, and usually the scales I've seen even on the big knives are quite thin, as you know thin scales like that when you are cutting something that is thick and tough dig into the back of your hand, where wide rounded scales distribute the rear pressure more evenly on the back of your hand and are more comfortable:thumbup:

On this Swamp Oak the handle is narrow enough(top to bottom) that the lack of contouring doesn't hurt the ergonomics of the thing. In fact it feels great:thumbup:

However if it was a wide one I'd want at least for it to taper toward the finger grooves, you know the kind of egg shaped profile like I think Mors Kochanski talks about:D
