new shop knife and dayhike EDC

My old shop knife has a new home a bit further south, which finally spurred me to finish my new one.

On my last knife I had KG do a sheath with a pen holder, and it really calmed down the 'sheeple' to have it kitted out as a tool holder. I then started carrying a countycomm widgy bar with it. (I never did get decent photos. Ask Christian)

With the new one I wanted to add a flashlight holder for the AAA maratec light. Its set up with a removable belt hanger so I can use it for strap carry as well, which I sometimes will do on a shoulder bag for dayhikes.

Knife is 1/8 inch 1080 steel with the newer shallow angled scandivex grind, fod's burlap phenolic for scales, with black liners. I wanted to advertise a bit in my EDC, so I gave myself a bitchin looking knife. (I'm still carrying the 2 inch maple handled one for ultralight duty.)

Blade is 3 7/16 with an overall length of 7.5 inches and a fairly fat little mini-dirk handle.

That's a beauty! I also like the sheath set up. It's nice having a lot of your EDC stuff together. I've unsuccessfully have tried mating cell phone holders with flashlights, pens, etc. but I never end up staying with it, as I don't like the way it looks.

How's the newer shallow angled scandivex grind compare with your old grind in use ?

my last cell phone holder was from nite-ize - clip case cargo model. clip on LED light from countycomm, swiss midnite manager (red LED), multi bit screwdriver. a few cards and some other paper/pencil bits. oh, and a flat small FAK.

For this sheath I just decided that the pen had goten to be an essential, I automatically reach for it. The widgy bar is just too useful, and what's the difference between a firesteel holder and a flashlight holder?

*shrug* Hard for me to tell for 3 reasons-

1: BOTH my other shop knives have been not my regular convex edge grind. The small maple one is very close to the new higher, flatter, scandivex and I have no issues with it at all

2: My task set is brutal, but different from what I do with my leuku pattern bushcrafter in the field. different materials and stresses. Yes, I AM guilty of scraping epoxy off of silicon bronze with my shop knife. and other stupid things including scribing CRS for cutting. I say I'm "testing" so I can get away with it.

I mean, it's not like I chop down 7 inch frozen trees with a knife ---- unlike some people I know:

3: no one has offered a side by side comparison. rotte. tony. rotte. tony......
