I am finally getting close to having the new shop completed. They will deliver the propane tomorrow. Still have a couple of tools to move in yet.

Looking forward to getting back into production.:D:D

Sure has come along way Gary. I remember the in progress pics....man I envy your shop buddy. I dream of a window......lol

Laid out nicely I might ad.

Congrats on the new shop Gary, looks damn good:thumbup:

Well, I am down in the basement/dungeon I like to call it. Its plenty dark down there....lol I just like to look out every once in awhile, then again maybe I should be keeping my eyes on my work:eek:

I made sure mine only had 1 small one :D Easier to make it dark for heat treating.

Funny how were all different but similar :)

Door stays open at all times...but looks out to the entry way of the dungeon....lol I have 2 small windows down there, but only get a view of the concrete foundation...lol

But its my space and I think we all have to take advantage of what we have.

One day I will build my shop to my likings just as Gary did. For now, the dark cave is good to go!

Well I see why you need a window buddy! Got a door to open at all?

Very impressed with the shop. A free standing building would be awesome. Building from scratch would allow me to have a wood burning stove in there, and be able to warm it.

I thought about putting in a wood burner but opted for the convenience of propane. I use a two burner heater which bolts to a 20lb. bottle and is plenty to heat the entire shop (and saves me cutting/splitting wood). :D:D

Very cool Gary!!!

Is the tire a forming tool?

I can only imagine how cool it will look in that shop with the forge going and all the lights off at night!

I don't have any windows in my shop, but I will have a lot in my next one. I feel there is nothing better for checking over your work than lots of good natural light. I always bring my work into the house and outside to look it over. And I have two dozen 4' high output fluorescent fixtures, 3 high output 8' fluorescent fixtures, and various task lighting ALL over my shop.

Thanks for sharing Gary :)

Ummm why would you need a heater in a shop :p I'm in short sleeves in mine right now!

The shop looks great, too clean but great! So when's the hammer in? :D

What's the tire thing all about???

I think what you're referring to as a tire is a roll of high tensil steel banding that will be going into some damascus billets. Mixed with 15N20 (or L6) band saw blades it makes a quality damascus and saves a lot of time over starting with thicker stock. It comes with a thin coat of paint but that doesn't seem to effect it's ability to be welded.

Hopefully it won't be long before the shop is not so clean.:D:D

That shop is looking amazing. Awfully clean, but amazing nontheless. ;)

Thanks for the pics. I enjoy seeing shop pics as much or even more than knife pics.

At first glance I thought it was a tire too:DNice shop Gary:thumbup:

I assume that is the press from riverside machine shop? I just placed an order for that one today. How do you like it? (if you have had the chance to use it) I cant wait to get mine.

It is from Riverside (Al Lawrence). Since I haven't gotten the propane tank filled, I haven't had a chance to use it yet. At 25 tons, it should do all that I need it to.

I love the anvil setup. Did you pour the concrete around the stump, or is it "furniture"? :D
