New Shop Started!!

Well I had a new challenge laid at my feet this week by my current 'landlord'. I sub lease 1000 sq ft of a 7500 sq ft warehouse currently. In my almost 20 years of renting I've never been late for a rent payment. Unfortunately, the guy I'm subleasing from has not been paying and Monday at 6:30 am I found out WE are getting evicted. The beautiful building posted above was scheduled to be completed by October when the lease here is up. So there will be a gap and I will not have a shop to work in for a bit. Fortunately, my contractor in Mississippi, without a pause, said he would bump me up and get me done in the next 60 to 90 days. Still, there will be a time where I won't have a place to work.

Luckily, and this won't be news to most of y'all, the knife community and the knifemaking community are amazing folks. Once I posted this new challenge I have had several guys from the GA Custom Knifemakers Guild offer to let me use their shop during the interim. This means I will be able to make some knives during the downtime.

This month's schedule is going to be a rat race. I will finish two batches (30 knives) by next Friday which amount to the remaining knives I have glued up. Then I've got to go to Mississippi to meet with the zoning board and hopefully get my business license set up. Then back to GA to clean and break down and stage the machines and stuff and clean again. Then rent a truck and move the stuff to my parents basement in Ms. Then back to try and keep my Fiddleback Friday's going and maybe even have something to put on the table for Blade Show. This seems like a mountain of work, but its just work. Beginning, middle and end. In the end, God willing, I will be in an amazing shop with no rent and no mortgage. I'm focused on that goal with all of my waking effort.

If you pray, please say one for me. I'm praying, and God willing around Blade Show I'll be in the new shop. I'll post pics as I can if y'all are interested.

Lots of progress on the new shop since my last post. The electric pole and panel and wiring and lighting are done. The back of house plumbing is done. Shower is in. Walls in the dirty area were finished today and are presswood, so I can hang anything anywhere. The huge plywood accent wall is started in the store area. I can't wait to see that. I'm doing all the trim and painting. Looks like the dirty area will be ready for painting soon. The whole room will be a bright light white-blue.

More pics to come.

Looking good....👍👍👍

Great shop! There is room for a second story, and it will almost double your space.
I can definitely have some storage up there. But its kinda short for a usable room... It would be nice to do something mundane like Glueups up there so it wasn't on the showfloor though...

When you want to come for a visit? I'd be honored if you wanted to.

Very cool setup you have got going on there and said a prayer that God will provide all you need to get through this. Really exciting stuff!

Thank you Brother! Especially for the prayer. I pray for your family's health and happiness as well. Pic is of the shop being blessed.

I would love to come for a visit, and I'm honored you asked!
To tell you the truth-I'm almost afraid to visit. I have just about made up my mind to stay where I am and just be satisfied with the current shop. A visit to your shop will start the fever all over and I'll be looking at property!

I REALLY do understand that thinking. Lol.
