New Shop Started!!

Well I had a new challenge laid at my feet this week by my current 'landlord'. I sub lease 1000 sq ft of a 7500 sq ft warehouse currently. In my almost 20 years of renting I've never been late for a rent payment. Unfortunately, the guy I'm subleasing from has not been paying and Monday at 6:30 am I found out WE are getting evicted. The beautiful building posted above was scheduled to be completed by October when the lease here is up. So there will be a gap and I will not have a shop to work in for a bit. Fortunately, my contractor in Mississippi, without a pause, said he would bump me up and get me done in the next 60 to 90 days. Still, there will be a time where I won't have a place to work.

Luckily, and this won't be news to most of y'all, the knife community and the knifemaking community are amazing folks. Once I posted this new challenge I have had several guys from the GA Custom Knifemakers Guild offer to let me use their shop during the interim. This means I will be able to make some knives during the downtime.

This month's schedule is going to be a rat race. I will finish two batches (30 knives) by next Friday which amount to the remaining knives I have glued up. Then I've got to go to Mississippi to meet with the zoning board and hopefully get my business license set up. Then back to GA to clean and break down and stage the machines and stuff and clean again. Then rent a truck and move the stuff to my parents basement in Ms. Then back to try and keep my Fiddleback Friday's going and maybe even have something to put on the table for Blade Show. This seems like a mountain of work, but its just work. Beginning, middle and end. In the end, God willing, I will be in an amazing shop with no rent and no mortgage. I'm focused on that goal with all of my waking effort.

If you pray, please say one for me. I'm praying, and God willing around Blade Show I'll be in the new shop. I'll post pics as I can if y'all are interested.
