Been wanting one of these for a while, and up until a day or two ago, I always figured I'd just wait for a used Horrible Freight 4x6 to show up on Craigslist, or at the very least just get a new one on sale when I just couldn't stand to be without one any longer.
Until now, I've just been using an old Porter Cable Porta-band mounted to the work bench. For the most part, it does what I need it to, although not exceptionally well, and the throat depth is actually a bit smaller than most modern porta-bands. I can and have used it to cut stock down for various projects, but it's nigh impossible toget a square/smooth cut on anything over 1/4" due to blade twist and whatnot.

Anyway, I saw this bad boy on the local craigslist, and it just happened that it was only a couple of miles down the road from me. I was able to haggle the price down to $250, which is about what the HF saws cost brand new, and I think I may have gotten just a little more saw for my money... :)

One thing it came with that I wasn't expecting was a little table that clamps to the frame in the vertical position.
I imagine it could stand a little bit of cleaning and fine tuning, but overall it seems like its still in great shape. Definitely looking forward to putting this one to use!

Very nice find...
I wish I had room for a model like that.
Kinda getting tired of the hacksaw.

I'm not gonna say I necessarily have room for it either... ;) But it does have wheels, so I suppose I can always scoot it around if need be. I probably won't move it anymore than I need to though... the thing weighs about 350lbs. Even with wheels it can be a bit of a work out!

New shop toy you tell :D ?

Nice saw ;)

I still working on my new toy called JUNG F50R...
Still on hydraulic >.> and making MQL cooling for her. ( aka Fogbuster DIY)
Later will be equiped with Hybrid Cooling ( MQL + Cold Air Gun )

wicked! we had a very similar machine at my last job. The guys made a larger table to clamp on when its in the vertical position and it worked GREAT!
nice score!

Nice !

There is a very small family run steel yard a stones throw from where I'm sitting. When I first started going there the Granddad usually was there working and selling steel. Most everybody else was out in the field installing stuff, making deliveries or giving estimates etc.

He was really something. WELL . . . he had a big O' version of our horizontal band saws and do you know what ? . . .
He made the thing ! Top to bottom. It was sweet too.

I have a Delta similar to yours. Works great.

Hey ah . . . let me share a little story / warning about these things that my machinist buddy told me happened to him.

I imagine yours has an automatic shut off . . . when the blade drops through what ever you are cutting it shuts off . . . right ?

Well he got in the habit of setting 'er to cut something and then if the phone rang or he made a call he would walk out side (into his back yard) and talk where it was quiet and nice. Good so far right ?

Well one day he ends his call and goes back into the shop to find the blade stuck in the kerf, the motor on fire and flames all the way to the ceiling. Apparntly the motor turned the pulley even though the belt was no longer traveling until the V belt caught on fire and then the motor went up.

Best not to let these little beasts run unattended for a minute. :)

Mine does have an auto shut off, but that's a good reminder not to leave things unattended.

Those are great, I use mine mainly in the upright position, welded up a table for profiling blades. Good score!
