Today I signed the lease on a new shop building. We are stepping all over each other here and we needed this badly. We reallyt don't even have the space to store the production Bushfingers. Its become a safety issue as well as the 9 of us work in the cramped shop. Our lease in the current spot was up last month, so I decided to find a new location. Our new shop will be over 6000 sq ft and will be subdivided into three zones. The first zone will be office space and will house all the non dusty functions of the business. This will include marking, leather, kydex, photo, shipping, knife glueup, and the storage shelves. This will be the only zone where a mask will not be required. Zone 2 will be the mildly dusty/dirty area. Drill presses, fileworking, hand sanding, scale glueup, maybe some personal workbench space, forging area (we never had this before), and probably some things I've forgotten will go here. One day, Lord willing, maybe we will have a big ole mill machine in this space too. This would make Allen a happy boy. Zone three will house the nasty tools used in the knife industry. Grinders, surface grinders, saws, buffers, sanders, sandblasters, etc. The total square footage is 6000 sq feet. Its a big change for everyone and an especially stressfufl one for me. Please wish us luck and keep us in your prayers. And above all, please know how important you, and your enthusiasm is to Fiddleback Forge.

Congratulations Andy & good luck with the move!! When does the shop address change become effective?

Best of luck. I have had that same stress. Get plenty of sleep and go for a Walk every morning. I hope that the first blade out the door is a cpm154 f2

That's awesome news Andy.......Congratulations to you and the entire Fiddleback Forge crew !

Not until we move. It won't be until April or so.

We just did one of those last week...

Congrats! Will you finally be able to close the dang door on cold days? ;)

On some of the space, yes. On the very very dusty, no.

This is very exciting news Andy. Your plan for three zones sounds well thought out. I hope that you have plenty of power and a better HVAC situation in the new place. I also hope the 6,000 S.F. is enough space to allow you to acquire some new equipment like a mill, disc grinder, etc.

It is great to see your business grow. Congratulations and good luck with the move.

Phil

Which zone do the nudie posters go?

Just kidding... Can't wait for some pics.

We have to be good nowadays. We try to be good nowadays at least.

Andy:

How much time do you anticipate needing to pack up, make the physical move and then get things up & running again ?

Peter

What zone is the keg-o-rator going to be in?
I'll nominate myself for that zone

Congratulations! Growing pains can cause a few headaches but will be well worth it in the end.
