I went to the PO today and guess what? It was their first day with the new software. It took 15 minutes for the person in front of me to get a money order, it took me 10 minutes to send ONE package via priority.

BEWARE I'd say avoid the PO if at all possible. I might have to go back to shipping ups or fed ex.

 I went to the local Post Office late this afternoon, and had 4 Priority Mail packages to be sent with insurance and Delivery Confirmation. I was in and out in 5 minutes. ???

I quit going to the post office when I started using the Click N Ship service online. Fill out the form, print out the label, stick it on the package and drop in the mailbox. It even gives delivery confirmation for free.

I did too, until I realized that they don't scan on outbound.

Unless they actually scan it, there is no proof of mailing with click-n-ship dropped in a mailbox. Be careful. The one thing in all these years (knock on wood) that has been lost was one of two items shipped simultaneously via click-n-ship, both dropped in the box by me personally at the same time, and one made it, the other... who knows.

The Postal Service is a BIG organization. Nation-wide, you know? Some offices may be upgrading equipment, some may be trying out a new system, some may be choking on poor implementation or training.

Believe me, I saw all of that in my years with USPS in New York City. My station got to try a lot of new stuff because I was more familiar with computers than most managers.

Give the poor guys at your local office a break if they're struggling with something they had no input on. They only get to run it. Whatever's wrong should clear up soon.

By the way, there should be complaint cards in the lobby. Fill one out when you're unhappy. Telling us here won't get the Postal Service's attention. :D
