Just ran across nice tins about 1.5-2 x the size of an altoids tin. Check out your local Spencers Gifts (if you have one)
and look for "stash boxes"

I found tins at "FYE" (For Your Entertainment, it's a music and movie store)in our mall here, they too were "stash boxes". Cool thing is, they are the same exact tins used for the British Survival Tin. They even have the rubber gasket in the lid. I picked up a couple and stripped the stupid stickers off of them and made up some of my own SAS Survival kits.

if y'all want nice little tobacco tins for yer survival kits, check out the West German guncleaning tins. In Cheaper-than-Dirt and a couple other of those type catalogs, you'll find sets of three cleaning kits for the G-3 type weapons class. Besides the basic pullchain, oiler and brushes, they are packed in old flip-top tobacco tins which fit perfectly in the pouch you find on and Eagle Ka-Bar type sheath. I have a sparker, tinder and charcloth in mine and it's right there on my knife... or in a pocket. I got three of these sets for $8 at a gunshow and the tins are great!

A couple other good "mini personal survival kit" boxes are the compact flash card cases at your local high-end digital camera retailer, and Esbit stoves.
