New special Buck special

This knife is totally impressive and you know what they say about imitation being the most sincere form of flattery. Is the translucent part ram’s horn or is it synthetic? A real work of art, Haebbie. I think a tan leather snoopy sheath would really set it off, maybe with an acorn and oak leaf design embossed on it, give it a nice German flavour. Really beautiful.

TLC, Knifeschmied, JB,

I am very please that you like the knife.

JB, I never sold a knife I made (I didn't made a lot). Do you want to buy it?

Haebbie

Haebbie,

Though I would love to have a custom hand made Haebbie DM 119; I'm sure you would not want to part with your work of art. In addition, I'm sure I could not afford what you would want for it. That knife belongs in your collection ;) .

Thank you alll for your kind compliments. Applause is the salt in the soup of the artist (german proverb). And it makes me proud if my work suits.

Will, the translucent material is not artificial, it is Amber from the "Danziger Haff", I got it from a Pole on a mid age market in Berlin.

Thank you for the very good idea to make a tan leather sheath decorated with an ambossed leaf. but I would take leafes of the black locust, according to the material of the handle. I think I will adopt your proposal. The crux: It makes me crazy to work with needle and thread. But I'll try it. At the least, the material is available.

JB, that sounds pretty good: "custom hand made Haebbie DM 119". And you are right, the knife belongs to my collection - but only because I'm not able to get another 119 damas blade. If I get one, I would sell the knife. The Price: I don't want to get a lot more as I paid for the material. I earn my money otherwise, And it makes a lot of fun to create nice knives.

Best regards,
Herbert

...Herbert your Damas 119 has turned out beautiful. Congratulations on a really fine job on the knife. A knife is a knife...you made it a true thing of beauty... ...Those fixed blades are lookin' better and better to me lately...LOL...

Darry,

thanks a lot. It makes me lucky to read all the kind compliments to ma homemade 119. Also, Darry, I think you'll find the right way. But imagine: The three steps are good, better, best. And now you are between better and best. It is only a Question of time you'll prefer fixed bladed knives. And according to my experience you are not able to fend yourself. :D :D ;) :)

Best regards,
Herbert

Well..."somebody" did stop me and did the BIN for the 120BR :( :)

Well, they didn't stop me and I went ahead and spilled for a new Chipflint 124. :o What can I say, I had to have a companion for my chipflint 110. I'll have a better photo once it arrives.

Congratulations, Mike, a beautiful knife!!!

By the way: Stopping why? it is impossible to stop somebody who is infected with the GPKBF (galloping buck knife buying fever).:D ;) :)

Best,
Haebbie

Hawkeye...

Damascus rocks.
My EDC 110 du jour is a Muskyfied 1989 110DM:

Cuts like the devil and an ease to sharpen.

I would love to get my mitts on a 119 Damascus like Haebbie's.

Searched this thread in hopes that it would at least spark some thought with Buck to offer such in the Custom Shop.
Think ("know") that it would bring in more interest ($$$) than their current fixed offerring.

Haebbie...have you been using this knife?

No, Falkenauge open up your eye ;):D:).

Igot the blade from eBay and made the handle by myself.

Best,
Haebbie

Gorgeous work, Haebbie! How soon till you start forging your own Damascus? ;)

I bougt an ambos and a forge an I own grippers and hammers. Now I have to buy coal and to find a place with a power supply for the blower where I can forge my own blades.
But I have to practice. The first and the second blade i made were somewhat rustic ;):).

Haebbie,
More on that "Jonesin" thing. Here in the States it is a common to refer to some folks
as "keeping up with the Joneses" meaning to acquire more new material things such as cars, houses, vacations, knives, etc in order to stay on par with "the Joneses", a hypothetical next door neighbor with lots of material wealth. Not sure I know who would be the "Joneses" in your country. Nice knife!! I to would add a butt plate just to give the butt a complete "look". Just my opinion.

hoe3

Thank you, HOE3 for your kind words. In this country we don't have the "Joneses" and the saying you described. But the challenge between the neighbours is international. To the knife: I already added a butt plate, made of Bone and you are right, the knife looks better with it.

Best,
Haebbie
