Looks like your starting to get the hang of it. Just a suggestion before you start forging the bit bump the front end up to about 1 1/2" and you'll gain at least 1" more cutting edge.

Louis, thanks so much for taking my ill formed ideas for a hawk and creating exactly the weapon I had in my minds eye. Your perseverance in the face of several set backs paid off handsomely. I wanted a version of the Vietnam tomahawk but with a more traditional look and I got more then I asked for.
Rocket Hawk vs Vietnam Hawk
length of 15 in 13 1/2 in
handle
length of 3 3/4 in vs 4 in
blade
length of 2 in vs 3 1/4 in
spike
width of 2 3/8 in vs 2 3/4 in
blade
width of 1 in vs 3/4 in
spike
diameter of 3 3/4 in vs 3 1/4 in
handle
weight 22 oz vs 18 1/2 oz

The spike is triangular with a sharped edge on the bottom. It measures 1 in across its thickest part at the top. I wanted a weapon that could be used as a crash axe in a pinch. Louis was fully realized my desire. The perfect balance of fuction and aesthetics. Many thanks Louis.
